I will start off the comments by saying I always have the worst time choosing any single favorites - the world is so vast and there are too many awesome options! So some of my favorite adult series of all time are: The Wool series by Hugh Howey, the Tao series by Wesley Chu, and the Nexus series by Ramez Naam. I also love any books by Jane Austen. In young adult, I love the Hunger Games series, The Compound series, Garfield comic books, and the Percy Jackson series, although I have only actually read the first Percy book completely through.
Some of my teen favorites were: This Present Darkness & Piercing the Darkness by Frank E. Peretti, the Cooper Kids Adventure series by Frank E. Peretti, any books by Janette Oake or Grace Livingston Hill.
Children's book series I love: The Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, any "Pigeon" book by Mo Willems, "Bruce" book by Ryan T. Higgins, "If You Give a . . ." book by Laura Joffe Numeroff, Clifford books by Norman Bridwell, Berenstain Bears by Stan and Jan Berenstain, farmyard books by Doreen Cronin, Dojo books by Chris Tougas, Arthur by Marc Brown, and far too many more to count!
To my peers, I would recommend my top three scifi series if you like scifi (you might like them anyway, if you give them a try!) or Jane Austen for anyone. I would recommend Jane Austen to my parents too, along with Frank E. Peretti, although of course they have already read them. To my kids, I try to recommend nearly anything that seems wholesome, fun, and/or educational.
In a zombie apocalypse, I would take every Hugh Howey book I can find, along with any Austen book I could scoop up.
To the love of my life, I would will my recipe books, because that's about all he will read.
Please, tell me your faves. I love to hear good recommendations.
