The Bighead by Edward Lee was terrific but you need to have a strong stomach. Stephen King's old works are usually faithful, Night Shift in particular if you want short stories. Endless Night by Richard Layman was alright, (also splatter punk genre of horror). Hope that helps!

Try The Ruins by Scott Smith. It's not available on kindle so you'd have to get a copy from your library. It's worth it. Also anything by Richard Laymon.

Laird Barron lately really creeps me out. I would start with any of his short story collections or his novel The Croning.
I have discovered Ambrose Ibsen - this book is creepy - haunted house setting
Brian Keene - Dark Hollow
Hello all. I'm looking for horrific fantasy. Set in second world, with lots of dark horrific things happening, but not necessarily straight horror. I'm having a hard time pinpointing exactly what I mean... but something with good plot, good atmosphere, and great characters. Thanks!

"Dark Hollow is excellent.
Currently reading my first Stephen King book - From Buick 8. only 1/3rd of the way in but its SO good. Think Stranger Things but with a car instead of a house. Also, if youre okay with graphic novels then I'd highly recommend Joe Hills Locke & Key series.

Angel Manor was good indeed! I haven't seen the others before. I'll look into them as you obviously have good taste.

King has written some excellent stuff! I'm not up to date with his newer books though.

I know! I've been meaning to read his stuff for a long, long time but have been preoccupied with Lovecraft's stories. Now I can finally see what all the fuss is about. :)

Some of his best IMO are:

Of course I haven't read them all. Yet. I didn't like Dark Tower and thought It was far too long, but that might just be me.

Yeah my friend has sworn by the DarkTower series but I am a little put off by the size of the series.
2018 has been pretty good, so far. Ones that I’ve enjoyed have been
Subhuman by Michael McBride and it’s follow-up,
Forsaken. Other great reads this year have been
Bone White by Ronald Malfi,
Episodes of Violence by David Bernstein,
What Hides Within by Jason Parent,
Bone Chimes by Kristopher Rufty, and
Blanky by Kealan Patrick Burke.

One of my favorite books!!!
For fans of the Cthulhu myth, I strongly recommend this book:
It has all of the good mythos elements without the outdated-ness of most of the classic mythos writing. I loved it!

I didn’t realize it was a series. Thanks for letting me know I’ll definitely have to check them out.
Hi everyone! I would definately recommend Blood Ink by Aurelia Young. I recently got into dark fantasy because of this particular book. There are some gore bits in it and there is blood magic. So if you like dark fantasy with gore... this is the book you want!
The Summer I Died by Ryan C. Thomas, lives in your head rent free for a while or maybe forever. The Summer I Died
