Jane Blythe So does anyone else have a spot where they seem to get lots of ideas?

For me its the shower. So often when I'm in the shower I will get all these awesome ideas for storylines, or characters, or sentences that sound so good I want to write them down right then and there so I don't forget! In fact I actually have gotten out of the shower before just to write down notes! What we really need is like waterproof pen and paper, or even better a totally waterproof laptop!!

So does anyone else find that they seem to get lots of ideas when they are in a certain place?

Amanda Siegrist (amandasiegrist) *giggles* Send me a waterproof pen and paper my way. It doesn't happen often for me that way, but I wanna be prepared just in case:)

Mine come randomly. Sometimes even when I'm about to go to bed, it'll just pop into my head.

One came to me, and it was painful, when I woke up late at night (no, I didn't turn the light on so I didn't disturb my husband) and I had to go to the bathroom. On the way back, I ran into the wall. The edge of it. So painful! I had a nasty cut on my forehead from it and it ended up waking my husband. lol. But it formed an idea, which I have yet to write, but I plan to. So, yeah, that one literally was knocked into my head. *chuckles*

(and ouch. much sympathy)

I did have one night...writing book 2 that the darned thing kept pestering me ALL the time. I actually got up at 2am one 'morning' as it wouldn't let me get back to sleep until I'd at least written the outline of what it wanted.

The book fae have been a lot gentler since.
I don't write books as quickly but I'm a lot less stressed.
I think they soon realised I was getting grouchy at their incessant "must write this", and "ooooh this would be really cool". ;)

My brain is constantly on overdrive. Seriously. I think I have issues haha! But the main places/times seem to be...

1) While I'm driving: I pull over ALL the time and jot stuff down in my phone. No joke. Even on the highway. Also no joke.
2) While I'm sleeping: I'll get up to pee in the middle of the night and stay up to right my dream down. Yeah. Issues. So many issues.

Hugs,
Ann

Jane Blythe Hahaha, Queen Amanda!! I remember you telling me that story!!

I often get ideas in bed too, then I have to get out my phone and write them down, I usually email them to myself because that way I'll definitely see the email in the morning and not thing it was all a dream! One time I didn't write down an idea and it took like a week for me to remember what it was, so now I always make sure I write down any ideas right away!

Nicole Locker | 183 comments I guess I don't have one spot that I get all my ideas. It's usually just wherever I am at the moment that I sit down to write. I usually tend to be a little more creative with a pen and a blank notebook as opposed to my computer, and will sometimes write entire chapters by hand before I go back and type them. I'm usually either sitting on my couch, my bed, or in a hammock under the pergola in my back yard when I do sit down to write. Though I got the idea for my first fiction books while running on a treadmill at the rec center in Texas Tech University. You never know when or where an idea will hit you!

My hand cramps if I write more than like a shopping list by hand these days!!
