Xandrie Kovak | 9 comments Hey guys, I'm curious if you've heard of instafreebie yet? Basically it's free books in exchange for being on the author's mailing list. The caveat is they send the files so you have to know or be willing to find out how to send the book to your device.

As an author it's been pretty incredible. I had no idea so many people would want to read my debut before it's "officially" published. Or that anyone would want to review it. As a no-name I was expecting an all out battle to get my first 30 reviews. And look at the craziness going on! The Fervor by Xandrie Kovak Sorry, I'm just really excited that readers are actually responding!!

Anyway, I want to know what you guys think of instafreebie. Or being opted into an author's mailing list for that matter.

Dawn West (uptildawnbookblog) | 6 comments Congrats on such a good response!

I use it and have downloaded several awesome books from it.

I don't mind the author newsletters, myself. I peek at them before deleting because sometimes there are giveaways to enter. But one could always unsubscribe later, if they choose.

I can honestly say that I have gotten many more books from InstaFreebie than Bookbub, lately. Which is sad considering what Bookbub charges authors and how "picky" they are of the books they will share... Just my opinion, though.

Paris (kerbytejas) (kerbytejas) | 112 comments I think I've gotten more books from Bookbub, than instafreebie - and that's only because I see more books I would want to read on bookbub lately. I subscribe to both and am happy to have them

Thank you! And I agree that bookbub is really picky--or so I've heard on many occasions lol. Though I guess that's a good thing for readers.

Another thing to mention is, instafreebie doesn't offer a blurb, just the cover so I feel like it's more hit or miss.

Instafreebie does have book descriptions. If you click on the book covers, it takes you to the blog page with long descriptions of each book. Just FYI.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) I receive emails from InstaFreebie since I've downloaded some free books from there. I do get more Free books from BookBub and GR Deals, but InstaFreebie is still nice. I don't mind having to sign up for an author's newsletter because I only download free books from authors I am interested in reading.

April | 41 comments I like the. instafreebies. They give ma chance to discover new authors. I discovered some very good authors that only need to be read and sent feedback. I really enjoy BookBub! Price wise it's great and with so many authors it's a book lovers dream.

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ | 49 comments Every now and then I stumble across a good one from Instafreebies. My latest stumble is Dog with a Bone (Black Dog, #1) by Hailey Edwards . What I like about Instafreebies is that I can usually download PDF and view it on my computer at work (sssh!) since opening a book or Kindle is frowned upon. haha!

Angela Dossett (whisperingwillo) | 88 comments I like Instafreebies...I just wished it was a shorter process. I really like Book Funnel. It downloads automatically to my kindle apps.

Keira Blackwood (keira_blackwood) | 3 comments I loooove Instafreebie. Everytime they send me an email I end up picking up a few books. They're doing more to help author setup promotions together recently, offering more information on the books, and I enjoy the newsletters. There are a few that I've unsubscribed from, but it's nice to be notified of more deals and related releases. I like it as an author too, Xandrie Kovak and picked up your book there before I saw this post :)
And I like the pdfs too, Karen!

Looking forward to reading it!

C.R. Robertson | 3 comments There are quite a few authors with books on Insatfreebie that don't make you sign up to mailing lists - and even if they do, you can unsubscribe...

April | 41 comments I have discovered a wonderful slew of new authors and I found that quite a few have real possibility going on to become writers on the level of C.Feehan, S.Kenyon rtc

K. Lincoln (kbirdlincoln) | 10 comments I like Instafreebie, but agree it's kind of hit or miss. I do wish they allowed a space for blurbs...it's literally judging a book by a cover! (or judging a book by how much money the author had to throw at a cover designer).

April | 41 comments I like the instafreebies. You get to discover some really great new / promising authors. I will go to other sites to read the summary. Some authors I wouldn't have gotten to without the instafreebies.

Joel Crofoot | 18 comments Personally I am a fan of instafreebie too. Even if the book isn't that great it was free so I didn't lose money on it.

My question though would be, if an author uses something like instafreebie or another site to make their book perma-free, can that ever be undone? Is is possible to go free for a year then change it back?

message 19: by Dani (new)

Dani Stowe (danistowe) | 13 comments I've used it for both pen names and I've downloaded books but I wish you could have the option to download multiple file types at once. Sometimes, I'll read on my kindle and sometimes on my laptop which requires PDF so I'll have to go look for the link. I also wish they had an index for the month like a library and not just emails but that's how promo platforms work.
