Thomas, what was the inspiration with the story?

It started off modeling a true story. Not the time travel part obviously, but back when I was in college a friend of mine was having issues with their mother. The mother went through these moods where should be really nice one moment and really angry the next. I was a third-party looking in on the situation. I decided to write a short story that mimicked the interaction and how the third-party would react. I picked a couple of themes to go in the short story, which were amnesia and time travel and just started writing. The next thing you know, the mother's being possessed by her dead twin sister and that's why she's having mood swings and the main character is dealing with flashbacks of being stabbed in the woods.
I ended the short story abruptly and shelved it for several years before I looked at it again and decided to develop it into a whole story. From there I chose many random ideas to develop into story lines and came out with 1300 unedited pages.
