hi everyone, I'm a British author currently living in Montpellier, France.

I write psychological suspense, thrillers and this summer I published my first full length novel - Good Girl Bad Girl.
It's available as an ebook and paperback.
The story is set in London and Kolkata, India.

Monday morning and I'm starting chapter 11 of the sequel to Good Girl Bad Girl.

I'm wondering, are other authors like me and prefer to 'polish' each chunk of chapters before you move on?

Or do you write straight through to the end of the story before you do any rewrites/edits??

Just curious.

I do the odd little bit of editing as I go, but do most of my alterations once the 1st draft of the book is complete.

I always read over yesterday's writing before starting again. A bit of editing happens at that point.

That's more or less my method too.

Interesting responses - we've all got our own styles.

Does anyone use a professional editor?

Yes. I respect him because he respects my style. I've had friends look at my work who wanted to make me write like them. He doesn't. when I read it after editing it's me but more structured.

You're lucky to have found someone who suits you so well.

I've not yet been able to settle on one that I can work with - though I think I'm pretty close. At the moment, I'm narrowing down the options with sample edits.

Did you try several before you found him?

No, I already knew him as an author and he edits for other friends. He now professionally edits more than he writes. I'd guess it pays better, too!
