Oh Faerian I am SO excited! You do know who that child grows up to be in 'Magdalen Rising,' don't you? I can't TELL you how excited I was to read that little plot twist, as I am a real fan of that historical character (trying to be cryptic here!)

Hi Faerian and Peni! Thanks for starting the group. We need an icon, maybe you could scan the bookcover?! I look froward to others joining and sharing the Maeve love!
i don't have my scanner sorted so if someone wants to do it that is cool...
i am waiting for the bright dark madonna to come free at the library - only one person reading it before me (hurry damnit hurry!!!) so no extra clues right Peni!!!
elizabeth cunningham has a twitter thingy which she updates regularly- she sounds like a true succulent!

Oh I havent' read Bright Dark Madonna yet either, but HAVE read Magdalen Rising. You haven't read that one yet? That's the one where I realized who this child is.

Would you believe; No library in my state apparently has a copy of 'Bright Dark Madonna,' and my library is buying it (I guess) but it will take however long, so I had to break down and order it! It's just as well, since with library books (esp. interlibrary loans, which you can't renew) I feel rushed about reading them, whereas with my own copy I can savor the book. Has anyone started reading 'Bright Dark Madonna' yet?
finished it and loved it!!! bummer it is going to take a while... i don't blame you for ordering it Peni - they are books i would love to have!
I got my copy today at last! and of course I have to work all weekend; but I did pounce on it and have read the first 3 chapters already. YIPPEE!
Ladies, I plan to finish "Bright Dark Madonna" this weekend. Would love to get some chatter going! Has everyone else read it by now?
OK I finished it; slight reference made to Maeve's firstborn (and I am SO anxious to see in the next book what happens when she meets up with that child!!!)....Miriam was a dreamy kind of character, and I think Cunningham had a lot of fun fleshing out Mary B, Martha, Lazarus and the rest. What did anyone else think?
Hi! I am new to the group. I am a student of sacred sexuality at Goddard College in VT, USA. I am from Charlotte, NC but I was not born there. I moved there with my husband and then spent 6 years wondering "Why? Why?" The answer: There is a sacred sexuality community in the mountains near Cherokee, NC and I met my sexual priestess at an herbal women's conference in Asheville, NC.
I have read all of Elizabeth's books for my studies at Goddard and I have celebrated the Good Friday service with Elizabeth and her crew last year. There is also a Beltane celebration at High Valley, where Elizabeth writes and lives with her Beloved Douglas.
Have you heard Elizabeth sing? I put a geis on you to not read another book until you hear Elizabeth sing.

well i have been a slackarse here sorry but i am so excited by the chance to chat about Maeve and how she has woven into my life in such a big way....
welcome Halee - i am interested to hear more about your sacred sexuality studies and committments... please tell me more
my only chance to hear Elizabeth sing is from the internet but i intend to buy the cd she and Tim Dillinger are working on right now... her blog tells of the story of making it and it makes me get shivery just thinking about it... geis not necessary in my case then
i live in New Zealand and i am ordering the three books (and considering Elizabeth's other books while i am about it) as my Christmas present to myself! Bless whatever librarian it was who was insightful enough to buy them for our tiny library!
Peni - i think she did have fun fleshing out Mary and Martha etc - i read a great New Zealand author's book called my name was Judas, by CK Stead if you are interested in the fleshing out of biblical characters - but Maeve is so so much more
i find her filling up my thoughts ......

Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately but life is so busy now and running the daycare takes so much of my time as I am tied down with responsibilty from 5:30 am until 5:30 pm!
Hi, Jane!
My cousin worked at Craggy Range before he died in a kite surfing accident while living in New Zealand. Yes, yep, you are right, Jane: Bless those librarians!
