Blurb:
"The hero-narrator of The Catcher in the Rye is an ancient child of sixteen, a native New Yorker named Holden Caulfield. Through circumstances that tend to preclude adult, secondhand description, he leaves his prep school in Pennsylvania and goes underground in New York City for three days. The boy himself is at once too simple and too complex for us to make any final comment about him or his story. Perhaps the safest thing we can say about Holden is that he was born in the world not just strongly attracted to beauty but, almost, hopelessly impaled on it. "

Although the polls aren't over yet, but we are quite confident about the result.
And we wouldn't mind at all, if you prove is wrong. ;)

Nope.I did not start . I will start either tomorrow or Monday :)

martin eden I've already read it. I loved it (gave 5 *, in my favorite book list). I loved the writing style, the character (I'm working with teenagers, and lots of them are Holdens!).

Lina | 6 comments i've read this book earlier but for me the main charachter just looks like a child who almost faced the adulthood but still not ready for it and he expresses this frustrating by hating everything and everybody and trying to create his own bubble. So, my thoughts about this story are fighting and i cannot say whether i like it or not) but it was quite interesting to follow the boy's thoughts))

It really would be a painful job to encounter lots of Holdens! I liked the dialect and for some time my language had that effect :P
Would have re-read with you guys if not for a busy schedule now.

I started reading it .50 pages into the book . I feel like this book is gonna be a character study of Holden ,is it so ?! He is not a likable character , is he !? For someone who is about to be expelled from the School, he is not feeling any remorse at all .

I think it is a very descriptive book but not boring though (yet).
Narrator's tone seems very realistic.
I'd say it's something I would enjoy.

Moto Z (verytada) | 42 comments Just finished it today, it's a good book. Kinda funny that's it's his sister's response that got him to stay

I am halfway done with the book . I am not sure whether i like it or not . I cant believe this is one of the greatest Classic . There is nothing in that book so far or i guess , i just didn't get the message of the book. Still some chapters to go .Hopefully , my opinion changes .

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments I had the same feeling as you Ann. But the imprints after reading this are what makes it a classic i guess.
