Emiloid | 1 comments Samantha wrote: "No, bind ups of any kind don't count. The individual works have to be over 500 pgs."

Does that mean HP Lovecraft's "Necronomicon" doesn't count? It's a collection of Lovecraft stories.

message 15: by Julie (new)

Julie Gravelin-Vari | 1 comments This is my first goodreads challenge. I'm so torn about what to read.

message 16: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelzbellz) | 3 comments Can you read non-fiction? I picked two from this list I have been wanting to read for some time but I have a nonfiction that is over 500 pages that if possible I would like to get to as well (The Sisters: the Saga of the Mitford Family). Does anyone know if that will count?

message 17: by Kelly (new)

I could not agree with you more, I LOVE THESE BOOKS!! I would probably say Wonderstruck is my favorite but they are all amazing and beautiful books.

Yes nonfiction does count!

message 20: by Anita Reads (last edited Nov 06, 2016 01:56AM) (new)

Anita Reads | 9 comments I was hoping to read Rogues (an anthology) during the tome tobble since it's like around 1000 pages and really daunting, but as I understand anthologies are not allowed for the readathon?

My other options so far are: Mistborn, Blood Rights (uskyldigt blod) the danish edition is 533 pages (if I don't get to it for Borrowathon), Illuminae and maybe a reread of HP and the Order of the Phoenix.

message 23: by Jessica (new)

I hope this is allowed.

message 24: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 1 comments I'm so excited about this read-a-thon!!

One question:
Do short story collections count? If you read all short stories?
I was thinking about reading one by Stephen King.

Alandra (Fosa Comun de Ideas) | 1 comments This is my first try at a read-a-thon! I finally have some free time and this is a great way to spend time and push myself to read more :)
The suggestions look great but I think I better get some books from my TBR.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm thinking about starting the Magnus Chase series. Goodreads says the first book, The Sword of Summer, clocks in at 499 pages but Barnes and Noble says 512 pages so I'm counting it. I actually haven't finished the PJO series but I've had interest in this one so maybe reading it will inspire me to finally finish PJO and maybe start the Heroes of Olympus series.

message 27: by Len (new)

Len Shields | 3 comments I need a little help. I finished The Girl on the Train. I would a suggestion for a psychological thriller just over 500 pages as a replacement for the feast of crows..I'm not even half way through storm of swords so I don't want to start the next one before I finish that one. Something adult and maybe even on youtube audio.

message 28: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Armstrong | 2 comments Question, would a book such as Les Mis be considered a bind book? Cause I want to have a push to read it faster but if it's not counted I'll find something else to take part with haha

message 29: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) Brandon wrote: "Question, would a book such as Les Mis be considered a bind book?"

It's on the list of suggestions in the first post of this thread.

Julia | 2 comments Len wrote: "I need a little help. I finished The Girl on the Train. I would a suggestion for a psychological thriller just over 500 pages as a replacement for the feast of crows..I'm not even half way through ..."

I would really recommend Night Film by Marisha Pessl :)
( -it's circa 600 pgs and it's a psychological thriller, but I don't think it's on youtube audio )

message 32: by Julia (new)

Julia | 2 comments Does a book that is close to being 500 pgs count?

message 33: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid (holte) | 4 comments I have heard that Nevernight can be a bit daunting to get through and that you use quite a lot of time reading it- because of the writing style. I want to read it at some point, but I don't know if it's right for a read-a-thon. Anyone have any experiences with this book?
Ps. I want to try to read al least two books this read-a-thon ;)

message 34: by Nicole (last edited Nov 09, 2016 12:50PM) (new)

Nicole I have so many that I need to get to:

Night Film
The Luminaries
The Mistborn Trilogy
The Name of the Wind & The Wise Man's Fear
IQ84
A Gathering of Shadows
The Goldfinch
Fingersmith
The Diviners
Days of Blood and Starlight & Dreams of Gods and Monsters
The Nightbringer Series
and a few more that I can't recall...

Good thing I have a few days to choose?

I'm leaning towards Night Film, The Final Empire, and Days of Blood and Starlight or The Black Prism.

message 35: by Sanne (new)

Sanne | 1 comments Does anyone have some more graphic novel ideas? I read Blankets two weeks ago and loved it. All the other graphic novels i've got are 130 or so pages..

message 36: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 1 comments I will be reading The Mirror Empire and Warbreaker.
I have never read a graphic novel so I don't even know where to start with that challenge. Any suggestions?

message 37: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is 945 pages, so I think it qualifies. :)

message 38: by Books on Stereo (new)

Books on Stereo | 4 comments Check out my Tome Topple Readathon TBR! I just finished it! I am so excited!

message 39: by Adelle (new)

Adelle (adellepalacio) | 3 comments I'll be reading "The Lies of Locke Lamora" and "Red Seas Under Red Skies" by Scott Lynch! And hopefully, get to finish reading "The Well of Ascension" by Brandon Sanderson. I'm so excited for this readathon!❤️

message 41: by Warda (new)

Warda (wsharif) | 50 comments Hoping to read The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson! :D

message 42: by Daria (new)

Daria Marshall (idoubledogdaria) | 2 comments Sanne wrote: "Does anyone have some more graphic novel ideas? I read Blankets two weeks ago and loved it. All the other graphic novels i've got are 130 or so pages.."

If you want a more gritty graphic novel, From Hell by Alan Moore is over 500+. I'll warn that it is definitely more adult (aka, depicts human anatomy and gore), so this may or may not be something that interests you.

message 43: by Ida Bejder (last edited Nov 11, 2016 08:10AM) (new)

Ida Bejder (idabejder) | 2 comments I've finalized my tbr!
Crooked Kingdom is a definite and hopefully I'll be able to finish Jane Eyre too.

If I finish those, or just feel like a change of scene, I have plenty of backups: The Final Empire, Kafka on the Shore and A Gathering of Shadows

This way I fulfill all the challenges except the graphic novel one. Oh well...

message 44: by Daria (new)

Daria Marshall (idoubledogdaria) | 2 comments This may be a silly question, but when you're figuring out if the book is over 500 pages, do you only look at the actual story or do you include the appendixes and indexes if they have page numbers at the top?

message 45: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (peacelovebooksxo) | 1 comments So excited! So far, I plan on reading Dragonfly in Amber, Mistborn, and After by Anna Todd. I might add in The Unexpected Everything. Hopefully I do better than the last readathon!!

message 46: by Jen (new)

Jen Ifer's Inklings (only4lightn) | 2 comments I plan on trying to get through Illuminae, The King by JR Ward, and the 3rd GoT book.

message 47: by Paperback (new)

Paperback | 2 comments I MIGHT try braving War and Peace. *cries*

message 48: by Katie (new)

Katie (booksandkat) | 7 comments I'm hoping I get to Outlander AND Night Film

message 49: by Emily (new)

Emily | 2 comments Cress which I've technically already started about 150 pages in but I never finished it so I'm just going to continue it!

message 50: by Emily (new)

Emily | 2 comments And try to finish replica.
