Shaunesay Welcome to our week long read-a-thon. That's right, at Hooked on Books we've decided that there aren't enough hours in a day, or days in a week, so our week long read-a-thons run for 8 days! Each participant reads from 12:01am on Saturday to 11:59pm on the following Saturday in their local time zone.

To sign up simply start yourself a post to track what you've read during the read-a-thon. Edit your post throughout the read-a-thon to let everyone know which books you've read & your total number of pages. Feel free to copy my post as a template.

Koep Sleeping Giants (Themis Files, #1) by Sylvain Neuvel

I'm shooting for 1000 Pages and I may or may not actually stick to my TBR - we'll see!

11/5: Cambodia Noir You Know Me Well 600 Pages
I read on and off all day yesterday and was just going to start another book but instead accidentally stayed up and finished it as well. Oops.
11/6: The Hawkweed Prophecy 368 Pages
Another day I spent reading on and off and then stayed up too late doing the same.
11/7: Sleeping Giants 304 Pages
I actually planned on not reading as much today but woke up slightly sick so I ended up reading quite a bit instead. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the next in the series!
11/8:Arena (13%)
I didn't get much reading done due to the election and getting some chores done.
11/9: Arena 336 Pages
I had a few things to do today but still managed to get a bit of reading in.
11/10: It Takes One
I managed to fit in some reading today and got about 75% through this book.
11/11: It Takes One 416 Pages The Invasion of Heaven 70 Pages (DNF) The Other Einstein
I was able to do quite a bit of reading again today which was nice. I got part way through The Invasion of Heaven and realized it really wasn't for me, I might try it again in the future. With that, I'm done with the TBR I created which I'm really surprised by.

Shaunesay Vivian -- I have Everneath on my TBR, that sounds like a pretty good recommendation if you're wanting to just keep on going in the series! :D

I haven't gotten much read today, we spent the afternoon raking/vacuuming leaves for my Mom at her house and it's hard work! Hopefully I'll get some reading time in tomorrow!

I hope everyone has had a great first day!

Shaunesay All,

I am interested in bringing on some assistant moderators, I am currently the only active one, and while maintaining this group has been manageable so far, I want to have some others involved to spread the job to keep things running smoothly.

Moderator duties consist of making sure things are running smoothly in the area you choose, monitoring new posts for content, just to make sure they follow group guidelines for a friendly all ages site, greeting new members as they post in the introduction site, setting up read-a-thon's if you choose that area. etc.

If you are active in the group and plan on being involved long term and are interested in being a moderator, please message me, and include which parts of the group you would be interested in helping with (read-a-thon's, sprints, pick-it-for-me, etc.)

Thanks!

Ashley (JaffaCaffa) (jaffacaffa) | 166 comments I'll be honest I've been reading mostly picture books/graphic novels. Sooo my page count is a bit inflated but oh well haha!

1. I've been in a pretty bleh mood and really needed the pick-me-up, which did help. I love picture books so much, I feel like I appreciate them even more now as an adult than when I was a kid. :D

2. I've been struggling to read the past several months due to getting seizures consistently when reading. :( Very frustrating, but at least I can listen to some audiobooks! This week has been especially bad, so basically just picture & audiobooks, but I'm overall enjoying what I'm reading so far which is all that really matters. :)

Glad you're enjoying DoSaB. :D I love that trilogy, especially the second book. One of my all-time favourites!

message 34: by Shaunesay (new)

Shaunesay Oh my Ashley! I hope that lets up for you! There are some really great audiobooks and I really didn't think I wanted to listen to them in the very beginning, now I'm definitely an addict! ;) There are some very cool graphic novels out there. I've managed a few myself this week. It's been pretty disruptive as a whole. :/

Ashley (JaffaCaffa) (jaffacaffa) | 166 comments Yeah I've been loving audiobooks the past few years! I'm so thankful for OverDrive's free audiobooks. I actually listened to the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy and am glad I did, with all of the fancy schmancy names that I would have butchered haha. I completely fell in love with the narrator!

I love Overdrives audiobooks too. I like to listen to a book while doing chores. Some books are so much better with the narration. :)

message 38: by Shaunesay (new)

Shaunesay One of our libraries uses Overdrive as their digital/audio application and I love it, much better than Axis360.

I didn't get much done this week, if it hadn't been for the two graphic novels I read earlier in the week.

Ah well, that's the way it goes! See you all next weekend!
