Lena Grey Hi Sue! *waves*

message 5: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 426 comments So glad you're here! I just finished Isle of Waves and loved it. Will there be more books in the series? I want to know more about Paul and Olaf, also Rose's cottage and who stays in it permanently, if anyone. This is a fantastic series.

message 6: by Sue (new)

Sue Brown (sue_brown) | 190 comments Right, what can I tell you about first?

Hi Andrea,

The Isle series is finished. However the Owens are far from finished. I have a new series planned for next year with Owen... and Paul of course. he would never be left out.

You have just given me an idea for a short story though.

Jules Lovesbooks (juleslovesbooks) | 206 comments Hello! I've made it! Congrats on the end of the series! I'll just be chatting for a bit I've got to go to work in half an hour!

Sue Brown (sue_brown) | 190 comments Here is an extract from Isle of Waves, which is the final in the Isle series.

http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/stor...

“ANOTHER ONE of your ex-boyfriends married off.” Wig Tobias grinned at his partner, Nibs Tyler. “One less for me to worry about.”

“Like you’ve ever been worried about Sam Owens.”

Wig laughed at Nibs who was rolling his shoulders in an effort to relieve his tired muscles. “You’re right. Sam’s a doll. Tense muscles, babe?”

“Every part of me hurts.” Nibs groaned. “Why did you drag me into providing the reception?”

“Don’t give me that. You loved every minute. It’s not often we get a chance to be with friends.”

“It was fun,” Nibs agreed. “But the Owenses can be too much at times. Sam or Paul on their own are bad enough, but all seven of them in one room, plus Rose and Mattie…? Christ, it was like a tsunami. I kept running away to avoid the woman in the pink dress who wanted to squeeze my arse. Who the hell was she?”

“An aunt, I think. She could obviously see what a fine arse you’ve got,” Wig said and slapped it to make the point.

“I don’t mind you touching my bum, but she was like an octopus, all over me.”

“You should have told her you were taken.”

Nibs snorted loudly, the sound echoing around the cul-de-sac in the quiet of the night. “I did. I even pointed you out. She said I should look for a real woman. I told her if I wanted a woman I would have found one, and you were all man—my man.”

As a man fully in touch with his masculine and feminine sides, Wig gave a satisfied chuckle and slipped his hand into his partner’s as they walked toward the van. “And that’s why I put up with your farts.”

Nibs made a sound like a grumble and pulled Wig closer to him. Wig sighed happily as he sank against Nibs’s solid body. At six foot two, his partner was nearly half a foot taller than Wig and almost as wide. He grinned at the thought of Nibs being mauled by a woman. Nibs didn’t mind women, he was very fond of them, in the abstract, but he wasn’t keen on being touched by anyone except Wig.

“You’re laughing at me.”

Wig giggled. “Busted.”

“I don’t know why I put up with you.”

“Because you love me.”

Nibs huffed loudly. “Take me home, and I’ll show you how much I love you.” He made it sound like a threat.

“Oooh, will it involve whips and chains, master?” Wig fluttered his eyelashes.

“Stop that, otherwise I’ll put you over my knee and spank your arse red.”

“You know how to make a boy happy.”

Please don't send any of them to the US - I love that it's set in the UK. I'd love to live there and cannot understand why in the world anyone would willingly come here now.

Oooh I'll pop in to say hello to Lou.

Yes, I've been working Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays. But now that it's summer no more Wednesdays or Fridays! But I've just applied for teaching jobs in the Fall so hopefully that won't be the case soon!

Oh no. This is very firmly a UK story. Olaf is coming to stay. He just needs a new job, poor boy.

message 18: by Lena (new)

Lena Grey yes indeed, definitely British. I've got my trusty American English/British right at hand. *grin*

He is a bit in your face, isn't he? How Olaf puts up with him, I don't know.

message 20: by Jules (new)

Jules Lovesbooks (juleslovesbooks) | 206 comments So you say your going to keep up with the Owens family in another series? That's not what your writing now though, right? Your doing some cowboys? (Yes I meant that to sound dirty)

message 21: by Lena (new)

Lena Grey you could certainly say that and not quite as gentle as his brother, Sam is about convincing people to do something, but then there will never be another Sam.

it took me a moment to figure out who 'Tigger' was but when I did, I burst out laughing and thought, yes that certainly fits him.

message 22: by Angela (new)

Angela | 16 comments Hi Sue. Love the fact you've set the books on the Isle of Wight. Are you British by the way.

Sue Brown (sue_brown) | 190 comments Angela wrote: "Hi Sue. Love the fact you've set the books on the Isle of Wight. Are you British by the way."

Oh yes, Angela. I'm a Londoner born and bred. The books came from a short holiday on the Isle of Wight. The Isle of... Where? follows my holiday visit.

Snort!! If only. I have a prequel to Morning Report which is going up as a blog read in an attempt to force me to finish the story. It was written over 18 months ago.

I have a number of stories under way. The new Owens series will come out once a year, like the Isle books.

message 26: by Angela (new)

Angela | 16 comments That's so cool. It's really nice to find British MM authors. I've come across a few but most books I've read are American. Keep flying the flag for us fellow Brits :)

He just reminds me of a Tigger. Kind but overwhelming at the same time.

You'll finish the book, I just know it!

Will Stormin be the last book of the Hairy's series? These were the first series of books I read by you and loved them :) x

I will do. It took me a while to get the courage to set my books in the UK, but now I love it. I don't have to think too hard about language.

;) You need to meet Sue, Angela, and you would never need to ask. I had trouble recognizing Sue the last time I saw her (poor eyesight, bad facial recognition software) but then she spoke. Oh, I knew that lovely voice :D

Good luck with the teaching jobs.

Hey Sam *hugs*. Norman is the last one. July 9th is the due date.

message 39: by Lena (new)

Lena Grey I often read books by British authors. I'm intrigued by the lyrical language and love linguistics as well. I'm mostly kidding about the dictionary although I do get stumped sometimes. I have to admit that boot and bonnet gave me a big giggle at first. I imagined a car like in the cartoon movie 'Cars' with cowboy boots for the tires and a huge sun bonnet on the top over the windshield.

message 47: by Lena (new)

Lena Grey The only British author that still consistently confuses me is Harper Fox. She's fabulous but uses words I don't know. I loved her historical 'Brothers of the Wild North Sea' but, since it's placed in the Viking era, many of the words were foreign as she used the language of the times. But, with that said, it's a fabulous book, well worth the effort. I love a good challenge.
