I think for this one posting with spoilers is ok. For our other book I may need to adhere to a schedule since I tend to get reading ADD!
Chapters 1-29The short chapters really make it hard to put this down! I am getting such a kick out of the tone - she has nailed the Austenian humor.
But I agree that some of the situations are a little too much of a stretch for me. I'm confused by their ages. The idea that they would all be under the same roof seems a little strange. Even the most dependent Millenials I know don't live at home. If the Bennett have so much money they can support Jane, then why not support Mary and Kitty and Lydia too? I get that Liz and Jane would temporarily move back home but it all feels forced.
I'm assuming at this point that Jasper is going to play our Wickham character? Or will Hamilton Ryan take that role? I don't for one second believe that Jasper is in an open relationship or that this grandmother exists.
And funny that Willie isn't in Katherine de Bourgh's patronage. She appears to be in a separate role in this book. I am having fun dissecting who is and isn't an exact copy from P&P!
Finished! For the most part it was funny and enjoyable, but I agree that it was hard to like the characters. Even Liz was so horribly misbehaved sometimes that I cringed. I shouldn't be wondering why've darcy would love her!
The TV show framework was kind of cool and spiced up the story a bit. I thought Jane's pregnancy was a weird way to drive off Chip, and Darcy's intervention with the Bennets didn't quite make him out to be such a hero this time around. But I liked the story and I'' glad I read it!
