Melaslithos | 1645 comments The cold is catching up with us here in Shanghai, summer definitively ended. It's time to start cozying up by the heater with a cup of tea and a good book (or run away to tropical places - I'm going to do both this month ^^).

Here are my reading plans to accompany the above activities:
Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih Rouge Brésil by Jean-Christophe Rufin This Green Land by John Fullerton The Lying Game by Tess Stimson Mom and Me and Mom by Maya Angelou

Although I might swap a few of those for some of the numerous diving books I bought lately, since I'm going on a dive trip to Philippines at the end of the month ;-p

Kandice Travel safe, Melas and good luck on the dive. You are really getting into it!

Well, I did mention a new obsession... I'm leaving at the end of the month, still 3 more weeks!

Thank you for posting this, Melas. I hope you have a lovely time during your time in Philippines.

I have to take a look at my Netgalley shelf. I keep asking for new books and my request actually get accepted so my feedback rate never increases -.-

Melaslithos | 1645 comments Well, that was quite a prolific month for me. I managed to read the above mentionned books, plus quite a few others.

Mainly, I offered The Giver to a friend for his birthday, so I completely got sidetracked and re-read this book, and discover the rest of the quartet too.

Here is the finally count for this month:
Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih The Lying Game by Tess Stimson The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry Gathering Blue (The Giver, #2) by Lois Lowry Messenger (The Giver, #3) by Lois Lowry Son (The Giver, #4) by Lois Lowry This Green Land by John Fullerton Scuba Fundamental Start Diving the Right Way by Simon Pridmore The Tesseract by Alex Garland Mom and Me and Mom by Maya Angelou

Wowza, what a great hawl, Melas!
I think November was by far my best month of the year: https://anaslair.wordpress.com/2016/1...

Mostly short reads but overall enjoyable ones.

What did you think of the Giver quartet?

message 7: by Melaslithos (new)

Melaslithos | 1645 comments I loved "The Giver". I didn't like the others as much. If I had to give a recommendation, I'd say, read the first one, forget the others.

So it doesn't end in a cliffhanger?

Kandice, what a month! I am glad you liked The girl with all the gifts as well. When I finished it I immediately wanted to talk about it.

I did too! I don't know anyone in RL who has read it. I found it smart and it kept me very, very interested.

Kandice I think my fave for the month has to be Love May Fail. Quick is my go to for a nice, uplifting, easy, but satisfying read. He's a dependable writer.
