Oh my god, Mr. Collins's response to Elizabeth rejecting him is literally the equivalent of all those screenshots you see of boys handling rejection on dating apps.
Some readers may not know that P&P was Austen's first novel, one she worked on for years under the title 'First Impressions.' One of her writing methods was to read the work aloud to her mother and her sister Cassandra. Imagine them giggling at the silliness of Mr. Collins. One of my favorite parts is his description of his relationship with Lady Catherine. Gives new meaning to 'obsequious'.
