November 2016 has three books for us to peruse and they are The Gravity of Love by Sara Stridsberg which will be published on November 3, 2016. Then we have Ninth Grave /tp: A Fabian Risk Novel by Stefan Ahnhem to be published November 19, 2016. Finally have Stone Coffin by Kjell Eriksson which is to be published on November 22, 2016. We will add any new books when they become available. Good Reading.

Gisela Hafezparast | 97 comments Just pre-ordered Stone Coffin. I have read two books in the series, unfortunately not in order and am still catching up (have two from the library sitting on my book shelve right now), so it doesn't matter anymore if I don't read them in order. Really love this series. Kjell Eriksson has a similar feel as Henning Mankell.

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments Kjell Eriksson is one of a number of under translated Scandinavian authors. I believe 3 of his books haven't been translated into English.

If you want to get a taste of Stone Coffin by Kjell Eriksson you can read my review. Read it as an ARC.

We have a new author that put her book in English and it's called "Good Girls Don't Tell" by Liselotte Roll Letta published November 17, 2016. Not on Goodreads yet, but on Amazon.

Gisela Hafezparast | 97 comments Just finished Stone Coffin. Really enjoyed it and love the series. Unfortunately so far I have read all the books in the wrong order, but with this series it doesn't bother me too much, the more you read the more you understand the characters. This one is pretty crucial with regard to understanding Lindell I feel. Already started the next one and from then onwards will try and read in order.

I am very intrigued about this author because of comments on GRs. However, even on GRs the listing of his series doesn't jive! Ten books but they are listed wrong IMHO. So indeed where to start. This list has book four as one!
Ann Lindell is a police inspector in Uppsala, Sweden.
English translation series order:

1. The Princess of Burundi
2. The Cruel Stars of Night
3. The Demon of Dakar
4. The Hand That Trembles
5. Black Lies, Red Blood
6. Open Grave
7. Stone Coffin

Series originally writen in Swedish. Only some titles have an English translation.

Yes that seems about right. I really like this series, very close to Henning Mankell, but not quite so pessimistic, not that I don't like this about my favourite detective of all times Kurt Wallander.

Lucy Horodny | 20 comments Just finished The Dying Detective by Leif Persson. Brilliant story... a cold case is re-investiagted and it is amazing to go back through the case with the eyes of another detective. Really well written and I could not put it down .... have picked up some very dull nordics this year - couldn't progress with reading them - and thought maybe I was over the nordic noir books but but this has reinvigorated me. Definitely recommend this one .... highly!

Mary (1meow1) | 118 comments I loved this book, too. It was long but there was never a dull moment in the whole book. I've also read his other books and enjoyed them, too. I hope he continues to write some more good
detective novels.

message 18: by Helen (new)

Helen | 140 comments Read it about 8 months ago. I loved it also. But then G.W.Leif Persson is my very favourite Nordic writer. Loved "Free falling as if in a Dream" and "Linda as in Linda Murder"
