I finished it last month but couldn't get time to write about it. I read it at a rapid pace so I might have missed few things. this isn't a proper review just collection of random thoughts that i came across while reading this book.

Though I am not a big fan of dystopian genre, I loved the book, it was amazing and relatively an easy read. Book represented a mixture of fear of ever increasing dependence on technology and loss of interest in reading books. The book was written in 1950's, a time when the modern technology was in very early stages and lot of people would have been very suspicious of the new modes of information entertainment which very were rapidly gaining popularity, the book gives hint about it by mentioning that people don't notice anything around them, they are too absorbed in their lives, that they hardly notice anything around them, just like Guy realizing, he hasn't seen moon in a long while or when he runs off into the forest and observe the nature up close; it's beauty and serenity.

As for Books they are gradually eliminated from the world because people lose interest in them partially because of the new modes information ,which provide an easier alternative, simplification of content provided by these alternatives etc... The main consequence of this is that government gets the ability to control the information, knowledge that gets to public and eventually what they think. There are no conflicting ideas, the thought process of entire nation is streamlined bombarded by factual information and highly selective narrative; People become disconnected from each other and what is happening around them. Since ignorance is a bliss this paves way for a content happy society who live under a totalitarian government without even realizing it.

Burning of the books marks the removal of conflicting ideas, opinions and views. Streamlining the thought process of entire society , resulting in apparent harmony and happiness, removing the possibility of any type of dissent. The consequence of all this is degradation of human experience of living; people living like preprogrammed robots.

I just finished this book a few days earlier, it was a great read which highlighted some important perspectives of our life without which we will be acting like some robots. It reminds us the power of knowledge and its affects on our lives.

W Overall,a disappointing book with disjointed writing. It should have remained a short story, which it started out as.
