War and western have never fared well in our club. That genre somehow always ends at the bottom of our poll :) I am still determined to have it in our group because there are some great books in that segment worthy of our attention. Just take a look at the candidates that are still waiting for their chance: All The Pretty Horses, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Cowboy and the Cossack, Dances With Wolves, Deadwood, Hombre, Little Big Man, Lonesome Dove, Sarah's Key, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, True Grit, War Horse.

Remember, if the genre is war, that doesn't exclude the science fiction or ancient history element from the book, meaning, the book may talk about the war in space or in ancient Rome, it would still qualify for this poll. Western in the space? Sure. (If there's such. Firefly novelization?) Romance, horror, anything works, as long as there's a war or western element in the book nominated. While we are at it, let's not forget there must be a movie tied to it too :)

I'll add new one to the list, The English Patient. How on Earth we haven't mentioned that one before? Give me something new for this poll, please :)

Great suggestions, Angela!

I'll wait a day more and make a poll afterwards. From all those on my list above, I think only True Grit had significantly more votes than the others, so I'll add to this poll only The English Patient and True Grit beside Angela's books.

Blueberry (blueberry1) Western:
Little Big Man was good. The book better than the movie but for some reason the movie was really popular I remember.
True Grit was really good. I liked the book and both movies.
I wouldn't mind reading Lonesome Dove but it is big.
Or Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West.

Should I add only Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and Lonesome Dove to the poll, considering you've read Little Big Man?

Blueberry (blueberry1) Whatever you think my draw some interest. I read and watched Little Big Man fairly recently and so the discussion would be welcome.

Sure, it would be interesting then to add that book too. I'll make a poll in a couple of minutes.
