Gillianne Litvack Knuffle Bunny is a charming children’s story about a Dad who doesn’t know what is upsetting his child so much. The story begins with a Dad and his daughter Trixie going on errands, when all of a sudden she starts having a temper tantrum. The dad does everything he can to try and calm her down and figure out what’s wrong but no matter what, he couldn’t seem to figure it out. The book uses repetitive onomatopoeia to represent the kids distress like, “Aggle Flabble”. The father finally decides to take the child back home to see if her mother knows what to do. Immediately the Mom notices Knuffle Bunnies absence, and they rush back to the laundry matt to search for the child’s favorite toy. When they arrive they search everywhere and find the bunny, the excitement is overwhelming for Trixie, so much so she is able to say her first word, “Knuffle Bunny”. I enjoy the realistic aspect of this story and find a personal connection with it, I mean who hasn’t lost a favorite blanked or bear?
