I really enjoyed this collection. I did feel a bit out of my element, but that's a good thing. I'm looking forward to volume 2 coming out; I definitely want to read it, too.I think the poem at the end may have been one of my favorite parts of the book.
This was a good mix of both art mediums and tribal lore. I am fascinated by Qallupilluit now and I WILL be watching everything on YouTube I can find about them. I love that there is creepy in every culture.

I finally read this one, right before reading This Place. I liked the anthology but it's only been maybe a week or two since I read it and I forget most of the stories. They just didn't resonate with me or maybe because I read This Place a day later, it just overwrote GN memories in the weekend? Who knows.I obviously cannot trust my memory, but what I do remember was this one was tied less to historical people and events than This Place and while I enjoy hearing about Indigenous myths, I think I have more trouble connecting to them and really getting into the story. I will agree though that while I didn't remember the name (thanks for noting it in the discussion above Russell) the Qallupilluit was super cool and creepy sounding.
I mentioned this in my post on This Place but I think the art was a lot more diverse in this book. I didn't enjoy the art in a few of the stories. I think there might have been a few times where I got confused about what was happening but perhaps that was just me haha.
I should have written this discussion post right away, my bad. ^_^
