This is for the discussion of chapters 1 - 8 of What We Saw. Have fun chatting guys.

Cristi-Lael | 33 comments Mod
I haven't started reading it yet, but I'm excited about this chatting thing! :o)

Debbie (debbieslibrary) I just finished chapter 8. And I think the real problem will make its appearance now. The first 8 chapters feel like building up the story for me, to show what has lead to the problem.
I really like the chemistry Kate and Ben have, I ship it :)

Will there also be discussions for the other chapters?

Then maybe this will be a motivation to start... No I'm joking :)
I am reading this book right now because I have a buddy read coming up on the 20th, so I hope to have finished this book by the 20th. xxx

I'm reading Emma by Jane Austen. I hope I will enjoy the buddy read as well, this would be my first time doing that, I am reading it together with two people :)

Paula - | 85 comments Mod
I need to read Emma this month too. Are you a part of the Austentatious Book Club by any chance? xxx

Debbie (debbieslibrary) Yes I am! I am reading Emma for the Austentatious Book Club and for a buddy read :)

This is very true. xxx

Finished chapter 8 last night, and I have to agree with Debbie. It looks like whatever happened will be revealed pretty soon. I had half expected this to start out with doom and gloom, like with Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, but it starts out just like your average YA romance novel.

I haven't either, I'm watching Gilmore Girls and (still) crocheting the baby blanket for Mike & Kara. She's due anytime now so I've really gotta get a wriggle on. But I'll defiantly start the book tonight. xxx

Yeah, well, now you're way behind because I've started it and am already on chapter 9. Pthtpthtpth!

Robin I still haven't started it yet! I am trying to finish The Outliers right now. It is next on my TBR though!

Cristi-Lael | 33 comments Mod
Lol, Robin! I know that feeling. it seems like there's always 3 books I have to read RIGHT NOW! :)

Paula - | 85 comments Mod
We can do it guys!
I'm getting off the internet now. But I'll be checking in on the chapter chats. xxx

Robin Right Cristi? I need to quit my job so I can read all the time...then I couldn't afford the books. What does a woman do?

Life is hard Robin. Why can't we just read books for a living? xxx

Paula - | 85 comments Mod
I agree with you guys, the story does just start out as your typical YA romance & it feels like s**ts about to get real, really soon.
I'm enjoying the "budding romance" and witty banter between Kate and Ben.
But I did find it strange that Ben cut Kate off in the car when she told him about a picture.

Hahah! I don't have a job and I still don't have enough time to read. :o) (Though, keeping my kids alive and doing my homework does definitely cut into my reading time....)

Yes. I want that job. I want to be paid handsomely for reading and knitting.

Yeah, I'm feeling like there's some way Ben is involved with whatever bad thing happened, but he's not telling anyone about it yet. I just feel, though, that he's not completely innocent.

Emily | 3 comments Hey guys, I read the first four chapters and I just don't think this book is for me. Sorry. I'm still interested to see how you guys like it so I'll try to tune into the live show. This was the second book I've given up on in the last twenty four hours, I hope I'm not going into a reading slump!

No worries, Emily! Not every book is for every reader. I can tell you that this won't be a 5 star book for me either, though I'm invested enough to want to finish it.
And, yeah, let's hope you're not moving into a reading slump! That would be awful! Especially now when it's cold and perfect weather for snuggling up and reading. <3

Haha! I did nursing school when my children were young! I did nothing but read school books and keep my kids alive during that time! I didn't read any books for pleasure! I am making up for it now that they are grown!

I can imagine, Robin! Nursing school is some serious work right there! I'm lucky in that my school, being online, is only one class at a time and each class is 8 week long. So, I only have to focus on one subject at a time and have just one main assignment due each week. It makes it easier, I think, than someone going to a traditional school. And this is good because we have the kids and Ron works a lot of hours. That being said, I am really looking forward to being done with school in a year and not having to do homework anymore or read textbooks. :o)

Robin No homework is the best! You will be amazed at how much time you have!

Robin Okay, this is a weird thought, but I was having some mini flash backs to when my son was a senior in high school. He and my nephew, both 18 went to a party out at some farm. The boys came home sober with funny stories to tell. One of the girls at the party (probably more than one) got wasted. My son and nephew gave her a ride home. She was maybe 15. She threw up all over my son while they were driving her home. I hadn't thought about the fact that she could have ended up in a bad situation if she hadn't been with my son and nephew. I had mostly thought of alcohol poisoning! So far, I am thinking this should be required reading for both boys and girls!

I'd agree with that. It should definitely be read by teens so that they can see the consequences their choices can have. I don't know about you, but I did some really stupid things as a teen. I'm really grateful that nothing terrible happened to me.

It's ok hun.
Aww no, I hope this isn't the start of a slump. Re-read one of your favourite books, that may help.

I feel schools should change up their required reading list. Especially in this day an age where everything is posted on line, and information is at a child's fingertips.
