Tokoz looked through the stores curiously, wondering what kind of gear were available to dragons. Most didn't use weapons so it was mostly saddles and a few odds and ends that they might need.
((quick question before I post. Would this be Lily and Tokoz first meeting or have they met before?))
(We could do either, it's really up to you. If they have met before it will have been recently in any case)
((Okay. Just curious. I'll just say they have not met yet and this is the first time they actually meet.))Lily walked into the gear house, she was suppose to meet her bond soon and to say she was nervous was an understatement. Of course she kept that hidden underneath a mask of calm readiness. She came here for the sole purpose of getting any gear she'd need a few more arrows for her bow since she'd lost a few just recently.
(Okay)Tokoz turned his head slowly when he heard someone enter. They were clearly human and he felt wariness rise up inside him. He hadn't interacted much with humans and was supposed to meet his intended bond soon. He wondered what kind of human they would be.
Noticing the dragon she felt weariness rise up inside her, but kept it hidden as best as she could. She hadn't seen a dragon in 3 years since that awful day. She rubbed her arm were the scars she knew there, but covered. She kept them covered mostly because she hated the reminder of the day one of her best friends had been killed, the day she'd almost been killed. The scars were a permanent reminder she didn't particularly like. "Hello," she said ignoring her nervous about being around another dragon.
"Hi." Tokoz said, inclining his head slightly before looking back at the dragon sized stones for claw sharpening. Those would be useful later on. For now though his claws were still sharp.
Not much of a talker apparently she thought to herself as she walked over to the arrows. She took one off the shelf and examined it. She took her bow off her back were she usually carried to see if the arrow was a good fit for her bow or not.
Upon hearing the string of the bow being drawn back Tokoz looked at the human quickly, teeth bared before he realized she was only drawing the bow to test the arrow and not aiming it at him. His face relaxed but he was a bit more aware of the human now.
Noticing the dragons reaction Lily realized that testing the arrow here and now probably hadn't been her smartest idea. "Relax, I'm not going to shoot you with it." she told him taking the arrow away from the bow and putting her bow back on her back.
"I realize that now." Tokoz said gruffly. "It would be wise in the future if you don't do that while a dragon has their back turned to you unless you intend to shoot them."
She nodded, "Yeah well I realize that...now," she amended, "but either way I'm not a killer so therefore I wouldn't intend to kill anyone, human or dragon."
"You say that now." Tokoz muttered. It wasn't that he thought she was going to kill him with his back turned, he just doubted that she could keep her word if she were ever in a fight where someone wanted to kill her.
She heard his comment, but didn't say anything to it. It wasn't like she'd be able to make him believe otherwise. When I came down to it she wasn't a murder. Sure self defense or the defense of her family and friends was a different matter, but even then its not like killing anyone would be her first choice in resolving the matter.
Tokoz wasn't one for conversation and was content to let the silence linger. He continued inspecting the sharpening stones and wondered how often they were used. They all looked new but he would think dragons would use them a lot.
"You don't talk much do you," she said it as a statement and not really a question. Of course she could be wrong and that he just didn't want to talk to her for some reason.
"Not really." Tokoz said simply, not looking at her. His sister complained that he didn't talk much as well though no one else ever seems to mind.
She nodded, "though so," she muttered to herself. "How come?" she asked curiously. She never understood why someone would be so quiet all the time, of course some would say she liked to talk a little too much.
"Why should I?" He asked, looking at her questioningly. If he didn't have anything useful to say why waste words?
She shrugged, "I don't know," she just wasn't use to quiet she had two younger siblings who were always talking. Silence had always made her nervous it made her feel like something bad might happen.
"Then why ask?" Tokoz asked, rolling his eyes. He had moved off of the sharpening stones and onto some interesting looking heat rocks.
"Just curious," she replied kinda annoyed by his response. He made her seem like an idiot or something and she did not appreciate that, especially when she'd been told she was actually rather smart.
He nudged some of the rocks, wondering how they worked. A small red color bloomed in the center of the rocks and spread to the rest of the rock the more it was moved. "I think humans have a saying, curiosity kills or something like that." He said.
"They do, Its curiosity killed the cat." she told him watching the rocks with equal parts fascination and weariness since she didn't know what they were, "but I'm not a cat either." she said with a shrug.
"That's it." Tokoz said, nodding before leaving the heat rocks alone. He was a frost dragon after all, heat was not something he was very comfortable with for extended periods of time.
"Who said it and why though is beyond me." She replied grabbing a few arrows. She clearly wasn't a cat and comparing a person who is curious to a cat whose curious makes no sense to her. Human were all around smarter than cats so chances were the human would survive where a cat has a small chance of survival.
"It seems an apt comparison to me." He said, clearly amused. He glanced back at the human and looked her over. She seemed so disgruntled over a simple phrase.
She rolled her eyes at that, "Of course it does," she responded with a small sigh. Well at least on the bright side she actually got him to talk even if it was with discussing something as simple and a stupid phrase. "So you have a bond yet?" she asked partly out of curiosity and partly to see how long she could actual getting him talking for.
"I am to meet them tonight." He said by way of answer. He hadn't met his bond though it was his understanding one had already been picked for him. He didn't mind that really, it wasn't like he had been around humans enough to understand what kind of human he would like the most.
"Oh." she replied, finding it weird that, that was when she was suppose to meet her bond, but maybe there were a few people and dragons meeting bonds tonight. Or it was just a coincidence even though she didn't believe in coincidence. She had tried talking her best friend Sadie into coming with her, but Sadie had given her this deep meaningful reason about her having to go alone to get over the past, personally Lily just thought it was her way of avoiding meeting any dragons for as long as she could. Sadie wore her emotions on her sleeve and she could see the nervousness on Sadie's face as soon as she'd asked. "I'm suppose to meet mine then as well." she said turning back to the conversation.
Tokoz blinked in surprise and grunted "huh." Was it a coincidence that she was meeting her bond? Probably, it wasn't like he was the only new dragon to the academy. Many dragons came each year so maybe there was a large group of humans and dragons being bonded. Or maybe this human female was going to be his bond.
"Its probably just a coincidence," she told him, "I mean its not like we're the only ones left with bonds to meet." she continued, part of her wondered though how true what she was saying was actually true. Yes there were others who hadn't met their bond yet, but that was simply because it wasn't time for them to meet each other yet. Take Sadie for example she hadn't met hers yet and she isn't tonight. Lily figured she'd be meeting hers soon though. Lily thought maybe Sadie wasn't meeting hers right was because Sadie's bond wasn't ready. She knew Sadie was more than ready considering out of the two girls Sadie was the smarter.
"Probably." He said and turned back to the object in front of him. He didn't actually know what it did but it was in the dragon section so he knew humans weren't using it for anything. He dragged a claw down it lightly, not quite scratching the shiny gold surface.
Something told her that was the end of the conversation. Well at least she succeeded in getting him to talk for a little while. Of course if this wasn't a coincidence and he was her bonded she knew she'd be getting him to talk a whole lot more than just a small simple conversation like the one they just had. Glancing up at the sky she saw it was almost time for her to leave, "Its almost night," she said almost to herself.
"I suppose it is." Tokoz said, looking at the sky as well. He started moving deeper into the gearhouse to look through it until he had to go for the ceremony. Which wouldn't be too long since it was already night. He looked at a clawful of more dragon things before making his way out of the gearhouse.
"Yup," she said popping the P. She started heading out because she knew it would take here longer to get there than it would him since she had to walk. Where he could fly he could probably get there in a matter of a few minutes or less. It would take her about 5-10 minutes to get there herself.
He made his way out of the gearhouse and snapped his wings out then lifted himself into the air and flew towards where the ceremony was going to be. He wondered if it would be that female he had met. She had been gone by the time he left and he didn't think he had gotten her name.
