Goodreads Sci-Fi/Fantasy Authors discussion

This is a bit of a marketing question, so I hope the other writers here can give me some advice. I'm looking into the possibility of doing a book release part for my second book collecting the short stories I've been adding to my website. It would be at ConFusion: Science Fiction Convention in January. Do any of you have any experience with doing something like this? In particular is doing it at an SF con the best idea? What should the budget be for an event like this? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
