Barbara McEwen (babsbookobsession) | 215 comments Last year I read The Little Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches by Gaétan Soucy. It was really out there/bizarre/not for the faint of heart. Not saying you shouldn't try it but be prepared!

Gillian | 229 comments Two I've read this past year and would recommend are And the Birds Rained Down by Jocelyne Saucier and The Douglas Notebooks by Christine Eddie

I also keep meaning to check out Gabrielle Roy's work, which is this years goal.

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1786 comments I'm debating between two books for this square Nikolski by Nicolas Dickner and Stormy Cove by Bernadette Calonego. Calonego is not a Canadian author, but the book takes place in Newfoundland.

@Allison - I have a second hand Nikolski on my shelf so might be reading that one too although I am interested in reading more by Saucier as I so enjoyed As the Birds rained down.
