Keeper of the Lost Cities (RP) discussion

((Okay, I know I said I was going to do plains... but I had this idea randomly and it seems more interesting so we get a volcano instead.))

Gale and Capella appeared on the side of a sheer mountain, with smoke billowing up from the top. Gale inhaled the sent, letting the warmth soak through her.

"Yep!" Gale beamed. "It's amazing isn't it? We get to go in the crater sometimes. It's soo fun."
Gale continued to ramble about how amazing volcanoes were for another couple of minutes, before a black figure strode down from a little farther up the mountain, somehow managing to move gracefully over the rocks and shrubbery.
Gale immediately stood at attention, back straightening.
"Fintan!"

((Just to clarify, it is an active volcano, but the lava flows slowly in particular patterns so the part they're on is basically just mountain.

The figure threw back his hood, revealing a handsome face with sharp, intense features.
"Don't worry child. The council makes me out to be much worse than I actually am."

Gale nodded eagerly.
"Come on. It'll be fun."

Then she looked back up at Fintan.
"Can we go inside today?"

Gale frowned. "We're trying to help you Ella. There's no reason to be rude."

Gale rolled her eyes.
"Actually, we did, but that's not the point. You do need help. You know you do. You can't hold the fire in like that, it isn't healthy, and more importantly, it isn't possible. Sooner or later it will overwhelm you and you'll end up burning down Foxfire or something."
She punctuated her statement with a crooked smile.
"But we need your help too." she said. "So it all works out okay."

Gale pursed her lips together.
It's okay. She told herself. She'll come around eventually. Once she realizes how important this is.
"We're not doing anything dangerous. Right now, we just want to teach you how to use your fire."

Fintan stepped forward.
"First we have to see what you can already do."
He pointed at a scrubby bush on a ledge below them. "Set that bush on fire. Make the flames burn as hot and as high as you can."

Fintan curled his upper lip.
"Pitiful."

Gale watched the bush, an expression of confusion on her face. "Are the leaves frozen? Why would you do that?"

Fintan glared at Capella. "Because she's weak. One of the fundamental strengths of our organization is that we've been able to escape some of the natural limits of the elvin mind. It seems that we need to teach you that as well."

He let it burn, hardly seeming to notice.
"Better." he smiled. "Though still not as bright as hers." He gestured at Gale. "You need to let go of the ice. It's holding you back."

Abrubtly, he extinguished the fire on his cape and turned back to them.
"Today I'm going to teach you to make Balefire. That shouldn't be to difficult for miss scared-to-destroy things here, and it can be a useful skill."

Gales eyes lit up, and she stood at attention.

Fintan snarled.
"Foxfire won't teach you. They'd throw you in Exillium so they wouldn't have to deal with you anymore."

Gale gave her a begging look. "Just try Elle. It's just a light, it can't do any harm."

((*clicks on the wrong threads and DIES BECAUSE WUT FINTAN UGH HE SHOULDA DIED INSTEAD*))

((It's okay Em! And I know, he's horrible. But Gale needed someone to train her, and she didn't have a lot of options soo...))

((Also, I SRSLY NEED TO GO. You guys are way to good at Rp's you make it to compelling to leave.))

((Oh, and just in case you got sidetracked, it's you're turn right now. Although I think you probably just left...))

Gales features hardened.
"I was hoping I could trust you." she says. "But if that fails, theres always blackmail."

"What?" Gale shrugged. "You're blackmailing me!"

Fintan glared at them. "Are you to going to just stand here arguing all day, or are you going to let me teach you?"

"Errm... Sorry!" Gale stood at attention. "Yes, we will let you teach us!"

((Oh, I just wanted to point out that Fintan is an NPC, if you feel like having him do something you can. Although, I see why you might not want to to...))


Fintan ignored her.
"To make Balefire," He said, a blue spark flickering into existence in the palm of his hand. "You must concentrate on light and not heat."

Gale closed her eyes and concentrated, pleased when the blue flames began to crawl across the skin of her hand.

Gale narrowed her eyes, trying to gauge the expression on Capella's face.
She was holding back, Gale could tell.

"Just bring it like regular fire." She prompted. "Only don't concentrate on the heat. You've got the sparks, just keep bringing more energy"

"No, not like that!" Gale shouted, throwing the ball of flames in her hand to the ground, where it lit some roots on fire.

"You have too-ARRGH!!!!"

((Skip to end of lesson? Looks like the rest will probably just be more of the same...))

"That will be all for today." Fintan said coolly. "Make sure that your friend is more prepared for next week's lesson."
With that, he pulled out a pathfinder and disappeared into the light.
Gale spun around, glaring at Capella.
"What was that about? I KNOW you can do better than that!"

"Yes you-Morals!?" Gale stuttered. Then she stopped herself, taking in a deep breath.
"I don't think you understand, Capella. Yes, the Neverseen have had to do some difficult things. But everything we've done has a purpose. It's the Council you should be afraid of. They're the ones who made this necessary."

Gale sighed. "I can only hope you'll realize how wrong you are, Capella."
Her eyes flashed, and she flipped a pathfinder through the air. "Go home. I hope you can get over this quickly. We need you. And I don't want this to be like last time"

Ronin was hovering around inside the volcano near the partially active lava. He wasn't doing anything important, though he should be. But he found dropping into the lava more interesting than making up war plans at the moment so he compromised and just floated above it.

Ronin heard muttering up at the edge of the volcano and looked up. He couldn't see who it was and floated himself up. When he recognized who it was he grinned wickedly and laughed. "Well look what we have here!" he cackled.

Ronin smirked. "I've barely said anything deary." He put himself on the ground and cocked his head, keeping his evil grin on. "But then again I suppose I could understand you not wanting me to talk at all." He glanced around. "Where's Kyler, hm?"

"Ah, so you ditched the party." Ronin nodded. "I think I'm going to take advantage of that in a moment. But first I want to taunt you, possibly mock you. I might even throw in a few threats just for the fun of it! I don't even know what I'd be threatening you for!"

"Nah. Chopping you up into little bits first would deny me your screams as you burned," Ronin explained in a voice like he was talking to a toddler." He crossed his arms. "Mayyyyyybe I could take you hostage! Yeah that sounds like a good plan! I'm sure you don't find it very amusing but hey, it'll be hilarious when I tell my little brother I've got his girlfriend. I wonder how many Black Swan secrets I could squeeze out of him before he finally broke." He nodded thoughtfully. "I bet that I could get everything he knows out of him in return for you."

Ronin grunted and almost fell back into the volcano, but he caught himself with his wind and flew up into the air. "Ooohhh little Nara doesn't like that idea very much, does she?" He cackled and nodded. "I think that's what I'll do then!"

Ronin floated there a moment, deciding to give her a head start, then shot after her. It wasn't hard to catch up with her. "Nice try deary." He swerved in front of her and knocked her off balance and back onto the ground. "Trying to call for him now aren't you?"

"Nothing but give me a good laugh," Ronin agreed. He formed a swirling cage of wind around Nara so if she tried to float away she would just get sucked back inside.

Ronin grinned. "I wonder if my brother knows that he's dating a lunatic." He waved at her like she was an animal in a zoo. "By the way, you can't transmit through that block."

"Noooo, but that would be fun!" Ronin grinned wolfishly. "I'm going to wait for my team to get here. They don't like it when I leave them out of kidnappings."

Ronin growled and sent a gust of wind that knocked her into a tree. "Alright. Enough of that." He put the cage back around her and put a shield around himself. "They'll be here soon, don't worry."

Ronin rolled his eyes at her and pushed the button of the gadget that summoned his team a few more times. "Slow pokes," he grumbled in annoyance.

"Wasn't talking to you hun." Ronin rolled his eyes and leaned again his wall of wind.

((Amya!))

Ronin grinned wickedly. "I did warn you."

Amya appeared and put her pathfinder away. "What?" she snipped at Ronin.

Ronin nodded to Nara. "Look Amya! It's your best friend Nara!"

Amya scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Ew. Why is she here?"

"Because we're using her as collateral against Kyler! The cheese puff adores this girl so I figured it would be fun to poke around with that." Ronin gave Nara a wicked look that she probably couldn't see cause her eyes were closed and all.

"And why am I here?" Amya asked haughtily.

"Well first I didn't think you'd want to be left out of the party, and second I need you to go get Kyler so we can poke him," Ronin explained. "Where's Fletcher?"

"The idiot got himself all broken up when he decided to jack around near the cliffs." Amya rolled her eyes.

Ronin frowned at her. "Hey don't be planning anything. It wont end good for you. You'd be safer by just sitting there and waiting for Ky to get here and try and fail to get you out himself."

Ronin snorted. "Not really. That was my rather lame attempt at keeping you put while the only person who actually has a chance of keeping you put gets here. You Nara, are a threat. Kyler, not so much. Sure his buddy slit one of my guy's throat, but that seems to be the pattern. He himself is too weak and unstable to actually cause an issue, so he surrounds himself with people who can."

"I never said I did." Ronin smirked. "But you did guess right. And he clearly hasn't told you very much about his history." He laughed darkly. "And you think I'm bad." He rolled his eyes. "Maybe you should probe his mind a little more."

"He is weak. And I think I'll tell you when Kyler's here so you can see the anguish on his face as it's slowly revealed to the only girl he's ever really loved how awful he really is."

((Ronin: #bluffing))

"Kyler's?" Ronin asked, confusion flashing onto his face.

((*snickering* Kay I'm pretty sure that you're talking with Nara as Nara's brain))

Ronin chuckled and shook his head. "You're completely insane."

"Spoken like a true nut." Ronin nodded like he was agreeing with her.

((Where's Loriiiieeeeeeennnn?))

((Ohhhhh yeeeaaahhhh))

Amya appeared and huffed. "Hey idiot. You forgot to tell me there was a party going on there. I'm not nabbing the kid with that many witnesses! Plus there's a stupid manager of guests who wouldn't let me in because, one, I wasn't in the "proper attire", and two, I wasn't on the guest list. And I couldn't shoot him because, again, there's too many witnesses!"

Ronin rolled his eyes. "Figure it out Amya. You're not stupid. Go snatch an Illusioner if you need too."

Amya growled and crossed her arms, giving Ronin a look.

Ronin rolled his eyes again. "Fine I'll do it myself. Watch her." He leaped away and the wind block went with him.

((Pretty sssssuuuuuurrrrreeeee you're talking to her incognito))

Welp. Amya is out cold. But since reasons, another guy just happened to appear then. He took in the scene swiftly and put a psionipath shield over Nara. "Geez. I come late by ten minutes and you've already completely knocked out Amya." He shook his head.

The guy frowned slightly. "Uh... What?"

((Force field: *zaps her*))

"Okiee...." The guy frowned and nodded. "Yeah, I kinda would."

"Nah you're the one stuck in a force field. You don't need to apologize." The guy shrugged even though she couldn't see it.

The guy frowned slightly and glanced down at Amya. He put a shield around himself just in case.
