Remember, you may choose which task to complete. However, we would encourage you to complete different tasks each time you land on the same Theme Park square.
There are 18 tasks (over 3 different levels) per Theme Park:
Easy: tasks that may be easily completed from participant’s bookopoly shelf
Moderate: tasks that may require participants to look outside of bookopoly shelf or further afield
Hard: tasks that may require a rather intensive research to complete (or maybe not; this will depend on the individual)
The Listopia is a work in progress and all participants are encouraged to add to this list.
This thread is also open for further discussion on the topic of Caregiving.

I'm going to leave the choice to Random.orgDice #1 will decide the level and Dice #2 will decide the task.
Rolled: 3, 1
Hard - Community ~As a caregiver, you feel isolated. Perhaps a book about a social worker. I'll see what I have on hand.
Just wanted to point out that in Moderate Level, 6b doesn't link to the Top Books for Caregivers listopia but to the theme itself.
lol @Lauren and here I thought letting people choose may be an easy way out but not for you ;p
And please add the book to the listopia to help everyone else too :)
@Marina: thank you! It was just missing an equal sign with the html & it's all fixed now.

Now that book sounds like it fits well, Lauren. Nice choice.

this takes me to Pitchers Mound
Number 7 is to advance to nearest theme park square
so that would take me to Valentines day - Caregiving
I have chosen to go for easy level - authors initials in CAREGIVING and will read Sleeping Embers of an Ordinary Mind
I have completed Sleeping Embers of an Ordinary Mind This is, in my opinion, a really odd book. It is full of description but weak in storyline or plot. I had imagined It uses three time lines (1469, 2015, 2113) in a backwards / forwards style They have little connection in characters and there is minimal linking between them, In fact the book reads like three separate stories of 3 people who happen to like art. This utilisation of different time periods is the most overused writing device of the 21st century, if done well it can give depth to an othierwise ordinary read but it is done far from well in this instance.
I feel like the author has tried to pack as much as you can into the book with poor results. What is the point of all the Parthogenic issues - they add nothing - similar things can be said about all the hints at future technology. The whole book is full of description but lacks real content
thanks for your review, Marie. Not something to be added to my tbr, I see :p
btw, just to let you know, you don't really have to review the books though reviews are welcome :)
Especially if they relate to the themes, we'd love to have a discussion going on as well if people get around to these theme parks. I've yet to land on one.

i'm going to steal Lauren's idea and roll :) - 3, 4 = hard; 4. Strength ~As a caregiver, you often feel overburdened...now to find a book
I would like to participate if there is still room for another player. Could a mod please PM me?! Thanks!!

I read The Tidal Zone by Sarah Moss for Hard Level: 2: Patience.Adam is a stay-at-home dad with two daughters, whose wife is a workaholic doctor. One day the 15-year-old daughter, Miriam, collapses at school and has to be resuscitated. Nobody knows exactly why. Adam requires a lot of patience to deal with the not-knowing, the fear, and the health care system, plus his family.
I've added this to the listopia.

Yes - but I know people who didn't! It's a slow read.
Hard/Strength ~As a caregiver, you often feel overburdenedLittle Mercies - Finished (2/5/17)
As a social worker, Ellen sees the worst of many people and her always on the go/too much going on results in a near tragic mistake one day
For Hard level 5, Survival, I read:July's People by Nadine Gordimer
A family of white South Africans are helped to survive by their black servant July, who takes them to his home village when riots break out in their city.
I'm going to go with the Hard level:1. Community ~As a caregiver, you feel isolated
I'm going to read Murder of Crows. The Others in the Compound become Meg's community, as well as select humans. But also Meg is isolated because she is unique.
I'm going to go with Hard Level 6, Relaxation:~As a caregiver, you need to find time to nurture yourself...
I'm going to read Special Delivery which is a BDSM book. So there are many different levels of caregiving in this story, but based on the description, it seems as though Sam goes through some self-nuture when he goes on a journey of self-discovery to find out how to be true to himself without being ashamed.
***Disclaimer: I have not read this book, so it's possible that I won't be on the right track with this, but if so, I will change the choice, but seeing as the type of book it is, I'm sure it will fit somewhere with the Caregiving theme.***
I saw Juliet Marillier shared this on her fb page & thought it sounds awesome that I have to share with you all here!
Coming up in September:
The Sum of Us: Tales of the Bonded and Bound
About the book
The world of caregivers and unsung heroes, the province of ghosts . . .
Who are THE SUM OF US?
If we believe that we are the protagonists of our lives, then caregivers—our pillars—are ghosts, the bit players, the stock characters, the secondary supports, living lives of quiet trust and toil in the shadows. Summoned to us by the profound magic of great emotional, physical, or psychological need, they play their roles, and when our need diminishes . . .
Fade.
These are their stories.
Children giving care. Dogs and cats giving care. Sidekicks, military, monks, ghosts, robots. Even aliens. Care given by lovers, family, professionals. Caregivers who can no longer give. Caregivers who make the decision not to give, and the costs and the consequences that follow. Bound to us by invisible bonds, but with lives, dreams, and passions of their own.
Twenty-three science fiction and fantasy authors explore the depth and breadth of caring and of giving. They find insight, joy, devastation, and heroism in grand sweeps and in tiny niches. And, like wasps made of stinging words, there is pain in giving, and in working one’s way through to the light.
Our lives and relationships are complex. But in the end, there is hope, and there is love.
