Firelight by Sophie Jordan

Review:

ROMANCE, FANTASY, AUTHOR PRESENTATION NOVEL
This book is about a girl named Jacinda who is a Dragon also known throughout the book as a Draki. She can turn into the Draki form of herself when she chooses to or when she has an emotional moment. She lives outside of her dragon pride in order to protect herself from the hierarchy of power. Her life is saved by a boy hunter who sees the fear in her eyes and lets her go. She meets a boy named Will - who is human- and falls in love with him. This is problematic because she realizes he is a hunter, the hunter who saved her. His family hunts Draki for their skins and the special healing power their blood has. Her twin sister Tamara is Draki in the human form and hasn't manifested. Hiding out from the Pride Jacinda is losing her Draki powers but when she meets Will her powers increase and are no longer dormant. Although he saved her, their relationship is dangerous. She risks the safety of her family, her secret of being a Draki, and the possibility of the Pride finding her for her love of Will.

Personal Reaction:
Loved this book. This is my favorite type of Genre. I always enjoy romance and fantasy novels. This is a great book for Young Adults because it has romance, issues fitting in at school or a place unfamiliar, and the idea that every person is special and has a personal destiny. Later in the story another Boy comes into the mix who Jacinda is supposed to be with because he is a Draki so we get the love triangle. This is so powerfully effective in this book because both of the guys are good options. One she loves because he is different the other she loves because he is a goo Draki boy. Intense! Loved it.
