Everyman | 102 comments I was going to offer Daughter of Time, but I see it's already been read -- I regret not having found this group in time to join that discussion.

According to the "Read" bookshelf, the group has read Mortimer of the Bailey, but apparently not any of his actual writing. It's not a traditional mystery, but would Rumpole and the Penge Bungalow Murders be an acceptable nomination?

Joan | 314 comments I suggest that we read one of the Brock and Poole novels by Graham Ison. Any one would be fine with me.

message 3: by Susan (new)

Susan I would like to nominate The Hunt for Sonya Dufrette. This is the first in a series and they are currently being offered very cheaply on Amazon UK (not sure about the US site).

message 4: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Cortlund | 21 comments Have you read John Harvey recently? (I just joined.) He's one of the best as far as I'm concerned as well as many critics. If not, I suggest we start with his first, "Lonely Hearts" which introduces Charlie Resnick, a great character.

message 5: by Dee (new)

Dee I nominate The Night She Died by Dorothy Simpson. It is the first in a series
Featuring Inspector Luke Thanet

I second the Rumpole suggestion!

Kay | 218 comments I also voted for the Rumpole selection. My library even has a copy!
