Play Book Tag discussion

This is one of my 8-year-olds favorite books, I can see why she likes it. Flora is a 10 year old girl with divorced parents. She meets Ulysses, a squirrel, when he gets sucked into a vacuum cleaner and find out he is a super hero.

The story is a little silly but there's a sweet message overall. It's definitely entertaining and funny. The main character is a girl but I think it might be appealing to both genders. I don't think children's books are always entertaining to adults but I liked this one. As a parent I appreciated some of the themes, writing poetry as a super power, innocent friendships, believing in things, etc.

I listened to the audio, which was only about 4 1/2 hours. I thought the narrator and production was great.

So this one is more of a chapter book? I was envisioning a picture book until you said the audio was 4.5 hours. That's pretty lengthy.

The premise made me giggle!

Oh yes, a chapter book. It would have been a great graphic novel but it's about 225 pages I think.

My daughter (she is 11) really liked this one.

I read this one of a challenge. There is lots of illustrations, some that look similar to comics format.

Interesting! I didn't know. I think we might own it (my daughter). I was looking for something to listen to while I was preparing everything for Thanksgiving all day Wednesday and this was available from the library. I listened it in one straight shot while rolling out pie dough, boiling sweet potatoes, etc. :)
