I don't know how much you've set up, but where do the Exiled go exactly when they are forced from the Alliance? Are they sent to Earth? And are there certain species or can you do whatever you want? (Mainly that's because I was thinking this might be my chance to use this pic for something: (view spoiler) or something other sci-fi pics I have.)
The exiled go to Earth when they are kicked out, because they view Earth as the worst place possible for someone to live out their life. There aren't necessarily different species in the different realms, necessarily, though you could make an argument that some people have developed certain mutations to better survive in their environments. Like if you wanted to use that picture, maybe he was from Karana and his eyes are like that because he's a member of some nomadic tribe and they developed the slits to keep him from getting blinded by the snow?
They are all technically humans, so I wouldn't do anything too outrageously different, and have a reason for their appearance, and you're golden ^_^ Hope that helps!

Ah, okay. So not overly spacey and aliens everywhere or stuff like that. Just the rare mutations and stuff. Okay, great! :D So should I wait for making characters?
Yeah, nothing super otherworldly!
You can start on characters whenever you like, if you have face claims, make sure to put them in first, then go for it! I'll be working on rp locations in the next few days, once more characters are made to actually use them!

Okeydokey. :D Then I'll certainly do that. Oh, and clarification on the gender claiming; if I make a male first, then I have to make a second female afterwards before I make another male character?
That would be ideal :) We don't want a gender in balance. If it were to happen that there was at some point a surplus of one gender, I would request that only the opposite be made until the numbers level out.
I figured. I only ask because I find in many groups that there tend to be more female characters so I typically make a lot of male ones. Not that I mind, but I just wanted to make sure.
I'm curious to hear about the kind of plot/ideas people have as to what the characters will all be working towards! I think I understand the concept as far as exiled aliens from the alliance are sent to earth and earthlings have no idea about the other planets, but i was wondering if we were going to kind of have a plot as far as like are the exiled trying to get back home? does a human somehow get roped into their shenanigans? are they fighting to save earth?
I just want to have a general idea of the kind of role my characters are going to play before I make them.

I made an exiled character who is trying to get back home, so that is definitely an option for you :) There may be some exiled characters who don't want to go back, because they are just really the kind of people who like to screw stuff up, and find it super easy to do on Earth. As for involving humans, that was something I was considering from the very beginning. This plot comes from an idea I had a while back where some exiles do get humans involved with them and their "shenanigans"! Making a human isn't technically an option right now, but if you would like to run by any thoughts you might have for a human character by me, either here, or through pm, I will be happy to help you out!
As for fighting to save Earth, that isn't something I've thought of. How do you mean exactly, so I don't misunderstand you?

well i mean like earth is considered a lost cause and all that, which is why people are exiled there, so a thing that popped into my head was an exile, fed up with humans, runs into an environmentalist human and they go about projects like cleaning up a beach, standing on corners to try and get people to recycle, brainstorm ways to get people to care about the environment, etc.
cuz like from the exile's view, they're gonna be stuck there for the rest of their days and they're like this place is horrible, but if i'm going to live here i should make it somewhat bearable.
and the ignorant human is just like oh yay someone else who shares my passion for a clean and sustainable environment!

another idea i had was something like a bunch of exiles band together and make a space ship to escape earth and post launch they realize a human somehow stowed away on their ship and now they have to deal with blending in to the different planets while also running from the law and the human could be a blundering baffoon that is constantly risking blowing their cover due to his own curiosity and ignorance
That could definitely be something for a do-gooder exile to do :) It would be kind of a rare one, as a lot of them have been brought up learning that Earth is virtually a world doomed for destruction, and it was only a matter of time before humans completely destroyed it, but an optimistic exile could definitely do something to try to help it, even if they think it might be, as you said, a lost cause.
Exiles getting a hold of material necessary to build a ship capable of getting back into the Alliance is just about as likely as a lion turning into a mermaid, I must say.
One of my characters is seeking help from fellow exiles to get off Earth, and the best plan is to use some of the Overlooked knowledge of tech to create another portal, which is how they got there in the first place, but they have to find Potentium, which is unlikely because they have always been told that there wasn't any on Earth.

ok so if they can't build a portal of a space ship and there is no hope for earth is this more of like an angry dangerous exiles taking out their frustrations on the earthlings kind of rp? I just want to get a sense for the direction that the characters are trying to move in.
Mainly, yes. Most of the recent exiles, who were part of the Overlooked, have nothing really against the humans. Their frustration was with the corruption of the Alliance, corruption that landed them on Earth in the first place. So these kinds of exiles can either mind their own business and just sulk in their own misery, or they have a chaotic attitude, like the murders, the thieves, the people who joined the Overlooked because they liked the chaos that they could cause.
There are those, however, that would be perfectly happy to find a way home, so it could definitely be a motive. I'm considering letting some find a source of Potentium, but that would be more of a major plot point later on.

Could we get a character help thread pretty please? <3 I suck at decisions and need opinions lol
Good question! I haven't been thinking about it a bit. I never really planned on it opening up on any particular day, really just waiting for you guys to organize yourselves, make characters and collaborations. There are a few locations to choose from, though I would like to eventually add more, I'm always open to suggestions!
I guess the short answer, it start's whenever you guys are ready :)

Well, I think it'd be good to send a group message to let everyone know when it's officially opened, just so people know to stop by. Maybe a good time to start would be after the new year, that way, the holiday season is pretty much over. Or start as soon as possible so that those online can keep the group running. Either way, I think maybe there should be certain topics like "Restaurants" or "Public Park" or something. I just think you need more rp threads so that more people can rp at the same time, if that makes sense?
Good call on that. I think I'll definitely send out a group message announcing its official opening on Sunday, but for now, if you guys are ready, I won't stop you from starting something up. I'll put something in the group announcements how people are free to start rping, but it officially opens Sunday, do you think that would be good? So people can have a goal to be ready by then or something?
I get about more rp threads, my mind has been elsewhere and I'm super picky about how I make the threads, because they all have to have a picture, and every picture has to be just right, then I need a brief description and it makes me wanna pull my hair out a little XD I don't think we will have too much of an issue with running out of room right at this very moment, because I don't think everyone is quite ready to rp yet, but I will definitely try to get some topics up. One of my bigger issues with those kinds of topics though, is that it's a little tough to make such general topics when locations for them aren't just one city but spanning entire worlds, you know? For Earth, right now I'm just sticking with North America, and I'll just take some big cities, small towns, like for parks, make Central Park, and maybe make, like Decatur Street in New Orleans, get more specific... sorry if this all sounds like a mess, I'm basically typing everything in my head right now!

No, I get you. I wish there is sub-folders to the main ones. That is one thing that I think Goodreads should do when it comes to group discussion threads and stuff. Unless you divide up cities on those worlds or stick to three per world or something. Are there capital cities or something for the other worlds by the way?
If it's not too much trouble, can you add what planet/birthplace each character is from to the list in the approved characters topic?
Definitely! That would be so helpful, so I could, I've been thinking about that, actually. I just don't want to have a bunch of different folders for rp topics, you know? I want one big folder for all of the little rp folders ^_^ If anything I'll probably just do something like, "New York City - Central Park" or "The Briggs Settlement - The Shore".
I don't think there will be a rigid limit on how many cities I make per world. The way I was doing it was one thread per world at a time, so I wouldn't end up making a bunch of places for one world and not the others. It kind of helped me narrow my focus because when I started working on them, my mind was all over the place.
There aren't necessarily capital cities, I don't think, but the four cities that the representatives and the Council meet would be akin to capitals, I think.

Oh, okay. Makes sense to me. :) Sorry if I come across as nitpicky, but I just wanted to clarify things in my head as to how the world/rp is going to be set up.
Yay! And don't worry! I'm the same way, and the only reason I would be frustrated is because I would be frustrated at myself knowing that I have to remember to keep it all straight and then figure out a sane way to explain it ^_^
How does the whole exiling process work? Like people are put in prison and then when their sentence is administered, they're thrown through a portal and just end up in a random location on Earth?
That's basically it! To make things cleaner, the locations wouldn't be super random, because then it would be almost impossible for the exiles to get in contact with each other, you know, for plot convenience ^_^ but yeah, that's pretty much how it goes.
Hey, Abigail, just curious, what do you think the traditional color of wedding dresses might be? (You can see some of the discussion at the Mercer Grove so this doesn't seem out of the blue to you, haha.)
Hmm, that's a good question, I've actually never thought about that! I haven't kept up with everything that's gone on in that thread, so I don't know if you guys have speculated at all on attire. Just off the top of my head, let's skip plain white, cuz that's to simple ^_^ I'm thinking it would differ by realm, maybe by class depending on the rarity of the dye used and what could be afforded. One thing that stuck out to me when I was writing my own story on this plot a year or two ago, was the northern lights. With the unique ozone layers, magnetic fields, and the like, the aurora borealis and australis take place every night on each realm, some giving off faint light, other much more bright and magnificent. The color of the dress would sort of match the colors of the lights, maybe to symbolize that they will be a strong, loyal partner as long as the northern lights appear in the sky(you know, cuz it's such a constant in their nature?). On Karana, the colors would be mainly blues and whites, Anterrum, yellows, oranges, and pinks, and Makires greens and violets. Kinda stereotypical colors for their climates, but it works ^_^
If you think this is good or maybe are leaning away from that idea, let me know and we can discuss it a little more later, right now I'm gonna try to go to bed, so depending on how quick you respond, I guess :)

I'm going to bed too, so I will have to think on it too. But that sounds romantic and space-y enough for me.
Sounds good! Ha, yeah, I think so ^_^ I read over some of your discussions and I like a lot of the ideas that you had. I think tomorrow we can discuss the details of it a bit, so if this is a question for anyone else in the future who might want to plan an alien wedding, we can give a concrete answer!
I have to go to class later, but what shall we discuss? What do you think of the ideas we had so far?
I liked your thoughts of incorporating colors of nature, though for lack of better words, I think there could have been a better reason for the colors being used in wedding ceremonies, other than the fact that nature is important to them. I also liked the idea of using colors that reflected their home world's, and that kind of works with the northern lights idea, as the colors parallel pretty well. It makes the ceremonies unique for each world, especially for people who are marrying someone from another planet. Then I also liked the though of silver and gold for the symbolism of the moon and sun, constants in nature, and a cosmic duo. Also, how it unifies everyone in the Alliance.
So really I liked all the ideas, and if we fleshed everything out, any of them could work. It could all be up to you and DD because you guys have the only characters getting married, but we could also maybe do a group poll to get other opinions if we are stuck.

Hey, Abigail? Can you make that poll? ^_^ It would be sort of fun to get the group's opinion involved.
Sure! Sorry for the delay, I'm abroad now, so traveling and time zones, ya know. I'll try to have it up soon!
Alright, the poll is up! Sorry that took so long. I pretty much passed out after I responded to you >.<
