How I hate this book, the characters are so annoying. My sister feels the same, we get into a passion when we think about it, LOL! I never liked the "I love you, I hate you" type of plot in any story though.
We studied this in high school. I have reread it since then. It is definitely a very dramatic book with some really messed up characters, and sad as well.

I tried to read it earlier this year & it’s one of the very few books I’ve ever abandoned without finishing. One day perhaps I’ll try it again.

I just felt like shaking some sense into Catherine and Heathcliff...
I think I liked this better during my most recent reading. Probably because I was able to see it as a discretion of a dysfunction family living in isolation. That made the story much more interesting and somewhat less tedious. I still hated every character but one. Which is one less than the first time I read it. :)

I only finished it because I couldn’t bear the thought of having to try it again in future.
Ha! I can’t remember the poor guy’s name. I think of him as Hairlip but it’s probably more like Hareton. Maybe. The son of Cathy’s older brother. The one Heathcliff raises in spite, but he turns out okay anyway.
