The book begins in a slow manner, but then around chapter 20 or so, the pace quickens greatly and the ending is dramatic. I had already seen the movie before reading the book, and there are some major differences between the two.

The opening line is a classic- very memorable.

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I really liked this book. The film too, but I liked the book better.

iasa This is one of my favourite books from the list. I'm always a little sorry I've read it, I would love to be able to read it again for the first time.

Debra Diggs Picked up Rebecca from the library today. Should be ready to start the beginning of August. Have a few other books to finish first.

Debra Diggs Finished.

I enjoyed this book very much. The author did a great job with Rebecca's presence throughout the book.

I never caught the new Mrs. de Winters first name. Did she even have one? If not, was that done on purpose?

We never find out her name. I am sure the author did it on purpose.

Debra Diggs Daphne du Maurier was a clever author. It is such a small detail not to give a first name to the new Mrs. de Winter, but it makes a difference to the story.

I also enjoyed The Birds by this author.

This book has a lot of surprises, especially in the second half of the book.
