The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this, but found it was beautifully written. An incredibly sad book, dated by the prejudices of its time. I was shocked by the cruelty of the parents who, of all people, I felt should have behaved better.

I enjoy this author's writing and am reading another book by her called Adam's Breed, about a young man of Italian background growing up in early 20th century London. He is also a lonely person.
