L.M. Montgomery discussion

Has anyone watched or is planning to watch the remake of the Anne of Green Gables movie? I loved the original one so much I don't know if I want to watch the new one. If you watched it, what did you think? Or if you loved the original like me, will you watch the new one?

I watched it a while ago, but didn't like it much. A movie only version of about two hours is just not enough to let the story develope IMO. It kinda felt rushed and somehow just not like the 'real' Anne-story, because there were scenes cut of course and scenes that didn't exist at all (like the lake scene were Anne breaks through the ice?!). Also I thought that most of the actors didn't quite fit for the roles, though the little girl who played Anne was nice. I don't know, I just missed something altogether.

I don't want to compare it with the Megan Follows movies, because each adaptation of the books is different (my favorite is the 1979 jap. anime series 'Akage no An', which is very true to the books), but the Sullivan movies/series did have this special Anne-magic that I missed in the new one.

I started to watch it but stopped after about 20 minutes. I just couldn't get into it. I thought it was flat and poorly-acted. No magic. And Montgomery isn't Montgomery without magic.

"Anne the series" premieres on Netflix on May 12! I'm very excited.
I saw the movie with Martin Sheen as Matthew. It was okay but too short and I didn't like the casting. But this series looks promising and The little girl who plays Anne looks perfect!
