I’m so pleased to see your comment, Bryan. I thought I must have misunderstood the story.


Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) I don't think James was too happy with it himself. Late in life, he re-released all of his major novels (and rewrote a portion of some of them) in a 'New York Edition'--a collector's set, basically. Washington Square was one of the few novels of his he chose not to include in that set.

I'm pretty sure I gave the book three stars--I liked it all right, I suppose, but I didn't think it was great. I probably enjoyed the descriptions of old New York as much as anything.
