Again we are back to modern day. This month's nominations are for the period 2010- 201 and can be for a sci-fi novel or set of short stories. Nominations can be for any book that has not been previously read by the group, these can be found here. One nomination per person please.

I have read this book recently, I loved it.
It's a very good story and a very interesting way of thinking in something similar to time travel.

I have also read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August recently. The science fiction idea of the book is really original. If you are into time travel/parallel universes this is a defiantly must read book. Besides, the story hooks you up till the end

Follow up on my previous post: It appears that OSAMA THE GUN is available for the Kindle, and as a hard cover edition. However, a paper back version will be available in January.

All the nominations look good so far! I would be quite happy to read any of them. The only one i've read is Osama the Gun and that was very good and topical of what is happening in the world.

The Fifth Season won the 2016 Hugo. I don't know anything about it except that it might be a fantasy rather than science fiction. They wouldn't present an award depicted by a rocket ship to a fantasy novel, would they? Anyhow, it's highly rated on Goodreads, and there is a waiting line to check it out from my library.

The Hugo Award has been open to fantasy for a couple years now. For example, _Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire_ won the Hugo Award for best novel in 2001.

I read The Fifth Season very recently with another group; it is very fantasy based, although I enjoyed it very much - enough to purchase the second book in the series, The Obelisk Gate.

The nominations so far are really good, so I won't nominate this time round or else I'll be stuck on which way to vote!

I enjoyed Becky chambers first novel, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. Her second, A Closed and Common Orbit, has just been published. Since my first nomination didn't make the grade, how about this one.

Buck - the only reason I didn't add your first nomination to the list was incompetence! As you asked if it was mainly fantasy I thought you were waiting for a response prior to deciding if you wanted to read it or not. As a few days passed by I promptly forgot about it :-) If you prefer The Fifth Season as nomination rather than A Closed and Common Orbit let me know and I will change it in the list of nominations....

I'd rather read the SF, so let's go with Closed and Common Orbit.
