We've just started seeing trailers for a TV mini-series based on
Forty Words for Sorrow, the first John Cardinal mystery by Giles Blunt. Billy Campbell will play John Cardinal. It's a CTV production. It will be interesting to see if the locale remains the same as the books are set in my home town of North Bay Ontario.

I watched this last week, really enjoyed it and loved the scenery. Anyone know if there will be a second series

Season 2 is based on Black Fly Season and from what I've read, Season 3 is based on books for and five. I think it'll start in 2018.
Season 2 of Cardinal starts shortly, I think the 3rd of January. It's based on Blunt's Blackfly Season. I'm really looking forward to it.
The Season 2 finale was excellent and also provided a trailer for Season 3. It'll be based on two of Blunt's books; By the Time You Read This & Crime Machine.
I've just clued into this series and love it. I even got my husband hooked. Now I just have to read the actual books.
The books are very good, Linda. I like them because they are set in my home town.. Mind you, it's not as grim as they make it out to be, but it's probably why they call it Algonquin Bay, instead of North Bay... lol

We started it but unfortunately never got around to finishing it. It seemed excellent as always. I'll have to find it.
Linda wrote: "I'm all caught up on the series but I still have to read them."They did combine certain books in some of the series.
I haven't watched the TV series yet, as I want to read all of the books first. The problem is that the fourth book was only released in the U.S. as a digital book, no hardcover or paperback. The first three books (Forty Words For Sorrow, The Delicate Storm, and Blackfly Season) are excellent reds, and I would highly recommend Giles Blunt's stuff to all mystery buffs. I just wish I could find a hardcover or paperback version of novel #4.

Have you checked for it under Fields of Grief?
