Julie | 11 comments Not long after the last book club I ended up talking sci-fi with a bunch of, luck would have it, avid sci-fi readers who had no problems making a few recommendations.

I added the ones that were specific books around 400 pages to the "to read" list for the club, some recommendations are more generic so I'm putting them all here.

- Vurt, by Jeff Noon (about virtual reality)
- The Diamond Age, by Neal Stephenson - unfortunately 500 pages long :(
- Accelerando, by Charles Stross (~420 pages but I added it anyway, seems close enough :-))
- Anything by McLoyd (misspelled? Can't find a proper link)
- Anything by David Drake

(Hopefully I got the links right!)

Most recommendations came from Tog members like Honta and Noel so we can ask for more if we run out!

A. (ebel) | 5 comments I recommend Gateway by Frederik Pohl. Only ~300 pages. From the 70s, so it's short.

Maybe they meant Ken MacLeod instead of "McLoyd"?

I've read Diamond Age & Accelerando. Both good.

Julie | 11 comments Ah you may well be right about McLeod!! Gateway seems to be the first book of a series, is it pretty self-contained anyway? If so feel free to add it to the to-read bookshelf for the group!
