Where "slightly bad" dragons are kept

Breeze walked in, talons rattling a few cages. Soulreaders was at the end of the long hall, so if he tried to escape, guards could quickly block him. Nobody was at the prison but if his cell unlocked, an alarm would go off. "Soulreader?" she called, her voice bouncing off the walls and echoing

Soulreader sat dejectedly in the darkest corner of his cell, but when he heard Breeze, his head raised. "Breeze?" he asked, his voice raspy from disuse

Drags towards a small deer, it was the best she could find from the good pile of prey. "I got you something to eat" tries to hide the sadness in her eyes. Breeze tried to replace it with joy and smiled at him.

Soulreader grabs the deer and scarfs it down, bones and all. "Thank you Breeze, you're my only hope." he says, his eyes drooping as his stomach rumbled hungrily. "What's it like out there?" He wanted to know about the SkyWing world

Breeze enjoyed helping her friend, she sat and thought for a moment. She flashed to the memory of Hawk being killed by the Queen but injured by Moon. "It's cruel" she replied, "The arena is back and you could be put in it at anytime now, ever wondered why the cells were getting more empty? That's why" she frowned, sitting next to his cell

Soulreader's eyes filled with terror at the thought of having to kill another dragon...or be killed. "How are you faring? With all the blood and death, I mean." his mind darkened at the thought of slicing through Queen Amber's throat. That was the only death he would be happy with.;

Breeze nudged him playfully, "I know your dreaming about killing Amber" she giggled. "Apparently I have to be in it all the time" looks down, "Amber killed Hawk my dad..." she didn't bother to say she was the queen's champion. Breeze wasn't proud of her accomplishment

(( hmmm I sort of want Olympus to like hate him but at the same time... since I saw his personality and he thinks that Olympus knew that he had tried to kill breeze... and then maybe Olympus could reveal the truth to Breeze...idk))

Soulreader gaped at her in astonishment. "The same hawk..."That I tried to kill, years ago? his mind finished, but his mouth wouldn't move. He could never tell Breeze his secret. She would hate him for the rest of her life. It was for her own good. But he could still feel the spot where she had nudged him, warming him and giving him hope

Breeze tilted her head, "Did you meet him when you were young?" she was interested in the story that Soulreader had to share though she knew that he might never. Soulreader wasn't the dragon who would tell you stories of the past, or so Breeze thought he was. She felt he wasn't telling her the whole story

((That would be interesting, maybe we can have a session where Olympus comes up when Breeze leaves and he threatens Soulreader to stay away or something or the truth will come out?))

"Y...no, I just heard his name somewhere." he squinted as if trying to remember, but in reality he was panicking on the inside. "You must be grieving."

Breeze didn't pry, she didn't know if he was telling the truth or not. She nodded, "It's been hard being an orphan and having to fight in an arena" she folded her wings in. "Sometimes I wish we were free, maybe someday we could explore together, when your out of prison" Breeze hoped the queen wouldn't kill Soulreader

Soulreader made a face "That'll never happen as long as Queen Amber lives. Maybe we could kill the whole royal family and be done with it." he said, his mind straying to Dreamer

Breeze nudged him again playfully, "Don't say that, maybe you could win an arena battle and she'll let you go" she smiled. "I believe that's her rule, four battles? I can't remember" she was forgetting that the fourth arena was against the champion, her mind was more to freedom. "Killing the royal family would put you in charge and if you were in charge, who would be your queen? Would you bind Skywings and Nightwings?"

"you could be my queen." he blurted out, and then covered his mouth. "I mean, it would be easier to kill the royal family. I'd have to get past the champion first if I were to go free, and I want revenge." his heart roared for Queen Amber's blood. And then there was the matter of making sure his secret didn't get out...

((Good luck with finals, and have fun swimming but i'll miss yew lol :())

Breeze had a lump in her throat, she had barely heard the queen comment but blushed. "Soulreader, you can't kill the royal family, it'd kill the Skywings, they might have a revolt and you could die" she felt that Soulreader would angry and try to kill her if he knew she was an arena champion. Breeze took a step away from the cell, "Soulreader, I fight in the arena a lot because i'm the champion, don't you see, you cant get out and soon you'll be put in the arena and win everything and then" she stopped herself from crying. Clearing her throat she slightly came back toward the cell, "I can't let you out" she stared at his wing bindings.

She glanced to the side, the Icewing queen wanted Amber dead as well. "Amber has a lot of enemies Soulreader, Queen Iceflake attacked her earlier during an arena battle"

"Well go Queen Iceflake." he muttered under his breath, then raised his eyes to Breeze. "YOU'RE Queen Amber's new toy? The one who the guards have been talking about?" he could occasionally hear bits of their conversation inside his lonely cell. "And I need revenge...you know that." It wasn't a question. He had to avenge Dreamer's death by killing the royal family. It was the only way to make the SkyWings see the pain he had gone through

Breeze looked sideways, "Yes I'm her new toy but I didn't say I liked it! I'd be killed if I refused to do an arena" she looked back at Soulreader. "It's not possible, if you get into an arena and survive, you have wing bindings, you won't be able to get to Amber" she saw a lot of flaws in his plan, there were lots of guards. "I don't like you killing other dragons and you know that!" That sentence had a hint of playfulness to it and sort of laughter.

Soulreader's anger bubbled near the surface, and he tried not to show it. "You could help me. you don't understand. It isn't a choice. It was Dreamer's last wish." he said softly, staring at a point beyond Breeze. "Don't you care about me?"

Breeze tapped her talons together, "I care, Soulreader, don't be like that" she tried to brush her scales against his. "If I let you out guards would be upon us right when the door opened!"

((Want her to open it? Lol))

Soulreader opened and closed his talons, thinking of Dreamer. Don't worry Dreamer. I'll avenge your death. he thought grimly. "Why do you care so much about the royal family? They killed your father!"

Breeze's wings spread open in anger at the mention of her father. She tucked them back in, glancing away. "I just have some friends that are apart of it" she replied softly. "Come here, your wings towards me!" Breeze knew how to pry wing bindings off, if Soulreader could fly, they'd be out of here before the guards arrived. "I used to help my dad out so we could fly around, I can easily get that wing binding off your wings"

Soulreader instantly brightened with hope "Really?" he asked, his eyes shining. then he darkened. "You have friends in the royal family? like who..." he asked suspiciously

Breeze raised her gaze to his, "Does it really matter?" she thought that Soulreader might come after them first. She grabbed a metal bar that was left near Hawk's old cell. Breeze concentrated, "This might hurt for a second" she lodged the bar onto what seemed like a trap consuming his big wings, putting all her weight on the bar. There was a loud snap, it seemed louder because the sound echoed on the wall. The binding had snapped in half, falling to the ground.

"Alright" Breeze began, "I have the keys in my talons so as soon as this door opens, run and fly for it!" she entered the key in the slot, all she had to do was turn it and let the door fly open. Breeze prepared to cover her ears, the alarm was always loud, especially in the prison. She turned the key slightly, all Breeze had to do was wait for Soulreader to push the door open to trigger the alarm and escape.

Soulreader stretched his wings gingerly, and then smiled at her. "Thanks Breeze." he said gratefully. He backed up, and then rammed into the door. The alarm squealed overhead as he barreled down the hall

The alarm was screaming before she could reply. Breeze's heart raced, if they didn't make it out, they'd both be killed, and Amber had crueler punishments than the arena. "Three moons, I hope we get out" she whispered, eyes glittering with worry. Breeze could hear wing beats but they seemed a lot far away, guards were on their own. She darted out of the prison, making sure Soulreader was behind her.

((the alarm could be heard form the arena *narrator speaks* XD))

Queen Amber hissed, this was the worst moment that stupid Nightwing could've escaped. Who had freed him though? she knew that whoever had, they would have an unpleasant day. Amber's tail lashed, "I want you five to head up along with the patrol, try to catch up with them" she ordered, seeming to take out a spear. It was beautiful, enough to take your breath away but dangerous. It had been sharpened enough that if you poked the tip, you would bleed.

Olympus lifted his head uncertainly. "It's the prison alarm. What could Breeze be doing down there?" he asked worriedly

(( *Dramatic music* ))

Soulreader followed Breeze, trusting her to get them out of the prison. He hissed in anticipation, already imagining Queen Amber's life bleeding out of her at his claws. No guard can stop me from avenging Dreamer's death he vowed

Queen Amber snapped her head to Olympus, "You know who freed him?" Breeze has always been a pain in the tail she hissed in her mind. She stomped her foot, "It's time to put an end to this!" Amber darted towards the prison like a shooting star, anger fueling her instead of the atmosphere.

"We are so dead" Breeze squeaked as she saw Amber take off from her throne. Come thing urged her to go faster as she took off into the air, it was very hard to see Breeze but what made her scared was Soulreader seemed like a big black blob in the air, easier to spot. "Faster!"

Soulreader could feel himself tiring, but he forced himself to go on. He became painfully aware of his thin frame, gaunt from so many days without sufficient nutrients. "I'm going as fast as I can!" he called angrily. When he saw Amber lift off, he grinned. "Come and get me!" he said challengingly

Olympus jumped into the air after Queen Amber, "Wait, you don't have to do anything! It isn't Breeze's fault!" he called

Queen Amber ignored him, she raced at Soulreader, not yet seeing Breeze. "I'll enjoy killing you, ya know, I always enjoyed watching your type of dragons die" sneers, talons flashing at him but missing

Breeze squeaked in terror, darting to help Soulreader but the wind current pushing her aside

Soulreader bared his teeth, dodging her attack with ease. He whirled around to score his talons down her side. "Bring it." he said, catching a wind to lift him higher

Olympus darted over to Breeze. "WHAT IS GOING ON." he asked

Breeze panted as she tried her hardest to get to the two Skywings. "Can't talk, trying to rescue a friend!" she zoomed through the air like a bomb, landing on the Queen. She covered the queen's eyes, not wanting to hurt her too bad

Queen Amber had managed to claw Soulreader so hard that he bled before Breeze leapt onto her. Roaring in anger, she poked at Breeze with her spear. Breeze yelped, blood streaming from her leg that had been poked harshly. She easily threw Breeze off and jumped onto Soulreader, weighing him down

Soulreader flapped his wings desperately to get out from under Queen Amber, but he could feel his strength fading as the blood rushed out from him. his body was too weak from days without exercise and no food, and his vision started to go fuzzy

"You're friends with that traitor???" Olympus roared, swooping overhead. He didn't help Soulreader, nor did he help Queen Amber. He wanted to remain neutral for now

Queen Amber smiled cruelly with triumph, "I should've put you in the arena days ago my friend" she hissed in his ear. She tried to mimic the way he had held Dreamer before she was killed to make it more painful. "You and your little friend are going to die a slow and painful way" she snapped her head to Olympus. "Help me drag this traitor down" she ordered, slightly meanly but kindness was in her tone

Breeze hissed, "a Traitor? We killed his only family member that he cared about, or cared about him anyway!" she wouldn't fight Olympus but she would fight Amber. She rolled at Amber in the sky, knocking her off of Soulreader. Amber held onto Soulreader with one talon, Breeze trying to push Soulreader higher

Soulreader felt the air beneath his wings, his anger giving way to a massive rush of energy. He kicked at Amber, catching her in the snout, before he launched himself away from her. His wing tore though, bleeding even more

Olympus hovered in indecision, then dove after Soulreader

Breeze dodged out of Amber's way, the Queens spear had stabbed into Soulreader's back. "Olympus, help us!" she yelped as she tried to pry the spear from his back. "It's alright Soulreader!" Breeze called to him over the wind

Queen Amber found her balance, she wouldn't give up, and would spill all her blood to kill those traitors. She reached for Breeze, grabbing the spear instead. Amber yanked it out of his back, flashing it at the Nightwings side

Soulreader's vision blinked once, twice, and darkened completely. He started falling out of the sky, his wings limp.

Olympus caught Soulreader as he fell, pressing his talons to his wounds. "Breeze, there better be an explanation!" he said

Breeze felt relieved, "I do, and I have a good one!" she dove to help Olympus pick and keep Soulreader up. She had fear in her eyes, nothing could ever calm her now. Breeze's heart bounded, it was hard to carry him, considering her size. She yanked him up, "There isn't anywhere safe we could carry him and Queen crazy is.."

Breeze was cut off by the queen's angry screeching, she dove at Olympus and Breeze knocking them both off of Soulreader. Though hoping to land with Olympus she smiled cruelly at Breeze. Queen Amber grabbed Breeze who was wriggling in pain, trying to get free. "You little rascal, I wish that you were killed by that Nightwing along with that puny father of yours!" She snapped her head to Olympus, reaching for him. Amber had no interest in saving the Nightwing, "Tell her the truth Olympus, of the story with Soulreader"

Breeze had a look of horror on her face, had Soulreader not told her everything?

Olympus saw the look of horror on Breeze's face, and wished he wasn't the one to tell. "Mother, I don't want any involvement in this." he said, avoiding her eyes. "I don't want to cause Breeze anymore grief." he looked down at Soulreader, his eyes hardening

Queen Amber hissed, "Looks like Olympus wouldn't like to show you how much of a creep and murderer Soulreader is. I bet he'd come steal Breeze away from you" she taunted him, knowing how much he liked Breeze. "And Breeze would go away, rejecting you forever and take over the kingdom and be his Queen!"

Breeze wanted to squeak out objections but the Queen had her talons around Breezes neck. It didn't hurt but it silenced her from speaking. Soulreader! she wanted to scream, he was falling faster than the three dragons were.

((I wonder if Olympus will get angry and tell her, this is so exciting!))

Olympus glanced at Breeze, making up his mind. "Soulreader is responsible for all of those SkyWing disappearances. He dragged them off and killed them." his eyes darkened as he watched Soulreader fall. "You can't trust a killer Breeze. He isn't your friend,"

Breeze's mouth opened in disbelief, "He was responsible for the death of all those Skywings?" she was able to squeak out. She felt exhausted, Breeze was very skinny, rarely eating.

Queen Amber slightly tightened her grip on Breeze's neck, "That's not all dear, he was the one who tried to kill you and your father when you were a hatchling!" she seemed to pet Breeze's head. "I saved you yet here you are! Backstabbing me for the physco path dragon!" they were close to the ground, closer than ever. She spread her wings out to catch them from falling. Amber threw the tired young Skywing to some guards who barely caught her, seeming to not be trying at all. "Olympus, you did a good thing today" she bared her teeth at Soulreader who a couple of guards had caught. "Mommy has to go do things, and I want you to be at the party Olympus, you helped mother capture the dragons who were soon going to destroy everything we love!"

Breeze was breathing hard, wheezing a bit. She had barely gotten air during the fall and the Queen made it worse.
