it is about a kid goes on quest to kill this kind of troll king. He fights some of the monsters underground with a sword. something i remember is there was something about a shadow that was close to the village he lived in and it was caused by a graveyard i think.

It's a young adult book in not sure what year is read it but I know it was late 2000s like 2009 or 2010. And I think it was a male author. The cover I think was a silhouette of the boy and a darkish background.
