4A Independent Reading discussion

So here is the spoiler: Mickeys dad is dead. Bat lady telling him he was alive was misinterpreted. She meant to say that he was alive in him, or through him. The bat lady is actually very important to the whole story whether she seemed like a small part of it or not. She takes part in saving people, when necessary and possible. Mickey´s dad was more or less recruited by her from a young age, and he never knew the whole story until after his dad´s death. The whole book had a very creepy mood to it, because you never knew exactly what was going on. Hints all throughout led up to the ending, which I believe was very fitting for the book.

I like books like this with hints throughout them. I like to guess what is going to happen and try and figure out the end. (I am usually wrong, but it is still fun) I also think it is interesting when a character seems very small and irrelevant at first and then by the end you find out how big of a role they actually played

My question is that if you weren't able to get the answer to who did it until after they told you, would you ever know it. As well, I don't really understand the mystery of the book, then again I didn't read it. Good thing it had a good message. :)
