The heart of Amity where all the citizens hang out, it's a giant garden filled with crops and fruit trees. Harvesters are seen here very often.

Kate brought Scarlett to the main garden of Amity, where several people were walking around, getting ready for their musical hour. "Well, this is where most of our meetings happen...." She said shyly. "There's still some fruit on those trees too if you wanna eat some,"

"Thank you-She rips furiously off the orange peel and bit into the orange.The warm tangy feel swept through her mouth.Even though no one knows it she loves the amity garden with its rose bushes, fruit trees and the harmonious melody of all the birds and creatures who reside in it.Only crows are heard in the divergent head quarters here swallows even eagles live and rejoice.It's grassy and lavender smell.She loved the way the wind blew her hair and the grass and wheat touched her knees.She loved it because her sister used to love it.She used to run around through the fields together before the incident"I love the amity gardens" she mumbled quietly hoping kate wold not hear it.She sat letting the wind ruffle her long chestnut brown hair and her mouth relief under the tangy orange.She smiled at kate and whispered"thank you"There's something about kate she liked.The carefree way she is like she no care in the world unlike her who kept her distance from anyone she did not know.She seemed like a great friend for any amity but she knew that they could not be friends, a dauntless who showed fearlessness and courage and a amity who showed peace and friendship.She watched people getting ready for something.They had instruments she never seen before."They look like torture instruments"She pointed confused at long wooden objects and a peculiar circular object in which when they hit made a frightening long bang.Why would amity have these object she wondered."what they getting ready for an execution"She asked maybe amity weren't as good as they seemed.She smiled maybe she and kate could be friends after all

Kate giggled slightly. "They're our musical instruments! We're getting ready for a music circle! It's a lot of fun. We sit in one big circle and just make music together! That's a drum, and those two are guitars. I play the tambourine!" She led Scarlett over to the circle and sat her down, and someone else brought over some tambourines for them. "You play it like this!" She shook the instrument, making the bells ring while she hit the little drum.

Scarlett frowned and hit the drum and it once again made a loud band"So it makes music"She frowned and started hitting it lightly creating a beat.Her legs tapped and people smiled at her.She laughed tapping a rhythm.Then she remembered who she was and stopped handed back the drums and sat frowning.Her sister would have loved it." can i borrow it for my sister is that ok"She said looking upset that she having fun without out her sister.That though drowned out all her happiness as she remember her sister still stuck in bed paralysed.Why wasn't she the one in that situation.She deserved.Her sister should be out her dancing and dinging happily"why did i survive why not her" she muttered quietly as the music played behind her.She saw kate looking at her and she wiped her tears and plastered a fake smile on her face

"Your sister? Of course you can!" Kate smiled nicely. "Is she from Dauntless too? I wish I could have siblings, but I'm an only child," She said in a sad tone. "Well, let's keep playing our instruments!" She got up and started dancing in the middle of the circle with some other girls who had tambourines and finger cymbals.

"umm no shes not from anywhere , if she did choose she would be amity i guess,but she wont be able to choose because..." she stopped sadly and then carried on" Shes amazing, creative and visionary.Woah you should her art work it's amazing well before the accident it was.Yeah shes the best sister ever" She said sadly , fiddling with her fingers.She said too much to kate already.Kate was dancing crazily in the middle of girls.She smiled and tapped lightly at the drum.

"Maybe one day I can meet her," Kate said simply over the loud music being played. The dancing went on for several more minutes until another dance started, this time with everyone dancing in one big circle holding hands. Kate offered her hand to Scarlet. "Come on!"

"you wont be able too"She pulled kate back and whispered"should i tell you something"She said sadly her eyes watering.Her face rosy red and fists clenched

"What? What is it?" She asked in a nervous tone, not liking when people were upset. "Maybe we should wait until the musical circle is over..." Several people were looking at them in curiosity.

"The reason I came here is to find someone really important.He may know where my father is and why me and my sister are hated and are orphans.Why my mum died and why my sister is paralysed"She saw shock in in Kates eyes and she carried on quietly"Theres people with mask who have the blood of my family on their hands, the blood of the once great nightingale family.Tve searched for years for this man called X.He wrote to my dad on the day my families name was ruined,He said that hell protect us but he didnt .Thats why my sister needs a wheelchair and hundreds medicine every day.Why her childhood is ruined.If you know anything please kate help me" She said her eyes watery and fiery.Her face scarlet red.She saw people look away shyly not wanting to get involved in conflict. She looked away from kate waiting for her answer.She fingered her little locket anxiously

"T-there's no-one like that here, I can assure you!" Kate said nervously, and indeed it was true. Nobody that dangerous could hide out in Amity for so long. "I don't know anything about that!" She insisted, pulling Scarlet out of the circle, making even more people stare at her. "M-maybe we can eat some lunch, once you have some food in you, you'll feel better!" This girl needed some Peace Serum in her and fast.

"umm i guess so"She said,tiredly.She must look a disgrace her eyes red,her face also red and her hair messed up

"Come on, let's go eat!" Kate took Scarlet's hand again and led her into Amity's dining room, which was a small hut filled with wooden picnic tables and the strong scent of pine. She sat her down at one table. "My new friend here is hungry," She called out, and since lunch was already being prepared, someone brought over a small plate of sliced apples, milk, spinach, and a cheese sandwich, with the serum baked into the bread, as usual. "Just eat this and then we'll talk about what it is you're looking for," She promised.

"umm no"She snapped"I can't believe you would do that to me Your so called secret peace serum I thought we were friends, everyone knows about your peace serum.I investigated it for a year with specialised Geeks(erudite) "Scarlett looked at her betrayed and sad

"W-what?!" Kate took a few steps back. "There's no serum in this food, I swear!" She burst into tears. "You were scaring me and everyone else, I had to! I thought we could be friends too..." She turned to leave, still crying.

"wait...umm im sorry for scaring you but you must kow not everyone whoes been through what ive been through can smile all day"She liked kate and felt sorry for her.Amity live in a fake world expecting happiness

"I-it's fine....but I really don't know how to help you. There's no man like that, there's no way they'd hide out here in Amity," She apologized, still nervous. She wiped her tears.

"its ok.I just wanted to help my sister"She whispered nervously then pulled kate back into the circle and made her dance

Kate continued to dance, but her heart wasn't in it anymore, as she kept thinking about what Scarlet told her. The fact that someone that dangerous might be lose and even in Amity truly scared her! But she couldn't do anything if she didn't know who the man was. Afterwards, it was time for everyone to eat lunch in the main building, and they all were served the same thing Scarlet had earlier. "Are you sure you aren't hungry? You don't have to eat the bread," She whispered.

"im not hungry really"She looked in disgust as the amity become calmer."Its like a drug isnt it.I hate it "She spat angrilly.She looked away and though about what the dauntless would say if they knew she was here

"It just keeps us calm, something the Dauntless should learn," She managed to spat. "Besides, Dauntless isn't any better, you drug people and force them to face their worst fears," She shivered, thinking of everything she experienced in the fear simulation. She later found out it wasn't real, which just traumatized her further.

"Yeah right At least we dont live in a world where we are not allowed to express our feeling, Our rage becomes our strength and power what has amity done for society except be used to make food.WE are the protectors of everyone.The world is far worser than the things you witnessed in the simulators.Out there there is evil and the simulator only prepares you for that.Every harsh method we do is to save yours sorry ass nothing else and let me tell you this,many of my people have died for amity and i dont believe that thay deserve it" She shouted,getting angry,Her cheek flecked red.This why amity was hated by dauntless.They don't know the real image.They live in a fantasy world in which they are forced to believe everything is fine.She remembered experience of her fellow friends dying

"Food is important," She said shyly. "Without it you wouldn't have strength or energy to work out," Several people looked up at Scarlet, indeed unused to seeing such blatant anger on display. "All the Fations are important," She whispered, turning to leave. All of them are important except for Dauntless, She thought to herself. And soon it'll be no more, Her sharp green eyes flickered slightly.

"You are faction is being used.Dont you know.Food is important but it doesnt save lives and all factions may be equal but it doesnt give anyone decency to drug people.Its been a pleasure mmeting you"She snapped but calmed down.She saw kate walking away evil look in hereyes,she gasped.Woah today's been a weird day, her beliefs are sio corrupted she thought.She glared at the people watching and took a knife out of her pocket and pulled up her hood.They looked really scared, she smirked swirling her knife in her hand and walked away. "i will rip apart every faction in this world until i find my parents killer.She started to walk away

"Food can save lives though," Kate tried again in a shy tone. "I've read a lot about diseases that can only be treated by eating certain foods...and medicine too is often just made of herbs which are considered a type of food," She explained softly. She then gasped at Scarlet's tone shift. "Don't do that! I'll help you! I will!" She insisted in a panicked tone, dragging her out of the food hall.

"i wasn't gonna kill anyone,im not completely crazy you know"She let herself get dragged out laughing."how are you gonna help me"she looke at her confused. and frowned .She looked at kate furiously, sometimes she was nice and then she just changed

"Uhhhhh, well, do you have any evidence from this man? Do you have any clues as to where he might be or who he is?" She asked nervously, not very good at these types of things. "Was there anyone who wanted to cause harm to your family? Someone close to you?"

"A letter well everyone,i dont know anything but there was this rumour about them being a traitor.Hes friends or a fake friend of my dad.Everyone hated our family trust e.I dont know why"She said confused

She found a letter in the burned ruins of her house stating:

Dear Malcolm
I will protect your family; You will have to do what is required of you and do not fear we will always be behind. The document “Forbidden vow “must be saved from getting in the wrong hands. The people will eventually come and know of our plans. We are all-trusting in you. The strongest of us all

Scarlet hid this knowing that it would add more doubt upon the trust of her late father. She travel around Chicago searching for x or a reason why she had to go through so much pain.

"Was your father a politician or something?" She honestly couldn't picture anyone hating her, or her dad for that matter. Despite her personality, she mainly just kept to herself, same with her father. "He'd have to be, nobody would want to take out the family of some random person,"

"my dad...he was the leader of Dauntless.Yeah he was the strongest of peple and ferious but so kind.Hed gone now"She wept uncontrollably,she didnt care that kate was watching her.She fell to the ground shaking.Sh looked up at kate and said"mY SISTER NEEDS HIM...NO I NEED HIM I LOVE HIM MOMMY COULD HAVE SURVIVED ID HE WAS THERE "

"Oh no!" Kate instantly paled, not being the best when people just suddenly cried like that, especially a Dauntless member. "So obviously whoever did this was someone who opposed your dad's beliefs. Someone from Erudite maybe?" She knew those two didn't always see eye-to-eye. She kneeled down and rubbed Scarlet's back just to be comforting.

"I don't know anything.That's why I'm still looking" she snapped and pushed kates hands of.Se looked hurt"I'm sorry itys just i don't like people getting too close "She said anxiously."I don't know why I cried,i held it in for so long "she looked on the floor and then said"why did you do such an evil look before, you know when er had the fight"She quickly pulled her hair in a bun and smoothed down her clothes.

"I-it's okay...." She blushed, then shook her head. "What evil look? I was just upset that you exploded at me so suddenly," She explained. "I don't like fighting,"

"You sure,it looked really evil and unlike the other amity your talking to me as if im your friend its weird"She said looking over her shoulder back to the music circle where people were dancing and singing even louder after the peace serum and because she left.

"I would never have such an evil look in my eyes," She continued to insist, still walking around. "Besides, we have to figure out who this 'X' person is, right?"

She seemed to be dodging the question.Scarlett grabbed kates arm and asked"how were kids ,we don't know nothing"She started mumbling about everything,getting reader and reader.She breathed and turned deep in thought.

"W-what?!" Kate looked extremely worried. "If you don't want my help, then maybe you should just go. I'm trying to help you, but you keep refusing it!"

"I didnt meant that,im just saying that we dont know where to start and please dont start another fight.For an amity your very stubborn" she said tired and quietly.

"Well, I was born in Dauntless," She smirked slightly. "Let's go someplace quieter. My house maybe? We can sort through the clues and everything we know there."

"oh ok.Lets go to yours, we can study there, my sisters resting quietly.You were born in dauntless?why did you choose amity then"She smiled .

"Because I hated Dauntless," She said in a blunt tone. "All they do is care about who is the strongest and the bravest and the most daring. I never fit in. Everyone made fun of me. Even my father, who I know loves me, wasn't too upset when I left. I remember on my initiation day when I bled into the dirt instead of the coals, everyone thought I was crazy. But I knew what I was doing." She smiled slightly. "I've never wished to go back to Dauntless since that day, not once."

"Well dauntless is not for everyone, I wouldn't want to be amity not ever"She smirkes "so we going or not"

"Of course! We're almost there, actually!" Kate smiled, since she was awfully proud of her house.
