Yeah, that really was a bad experience :/
I hope we'll have more luck with this one.
I am so hyped about this book really - when I was in the middle of no where a couple of days ago with nothing else but my phone, I read the first chapter. I am intrigued! Thankfully this is a book to read over the weekend!

I hope not to be stuck in the middle of nowhere again before Friday!

LOL.
As an FYI if I really like this I may roll straight into book 2 Arm of the Sphinx

Gee, you are lucky that I have school now and still haven't finish Promise of the blood. Otherwise I would have jump into Senlin...
I'm totally looking forward to it too. Trying to arrange all my books so that I'm ready to start it ON 1/20! :)

I cannot wait to read more! I am in the office though so it is a bit complicated to sneak in pages! TGIF so I can binge read later!

I've read the first couple of chapters but have another book that I am finishing tonight so I can give this my full attention!
I had to finish The Last Days of Night before I started this. It was simply a great historical fiction piece. I read the first 5 pages at lunch after finishing that book and I liked the early vibe. It had a very Dr Livingston feel to it. I should get some traction tonight.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I started reading Company Town just because I got the audible version at a great price. What a surprising good read!

Interesting comparison. I keep leaning towards a Dr Livingston meets Journey to the Center of the Earth, or in this case tower.

Ok. I've finished Part one. Although it's quite intriguing I'm not really enjoying this...I feel like I'm waiting for it to get good.
I'm through part one as well. Normally this book wouldn't be my cup of tea but his writing is so smooth I'm enjoying it. I kind of get the feeling that his is going to be like the movie The Game starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn in that nothing is as it appears and there's a crazy life lesson coming from all the mind games.

I have to say, the writing is magnetic yet nothing is really happening. I have to say the book reminded me of Edgar Allan Poe's stories - it feels more like a trip (on drugs) than anything more "rational"!
