Reading the Chunksters discussion

I know it might easily turn into a dud, but I am offering you a choice of two books, and each of the two can be intriguing and exciting in its own way. Please leave in comments your choice of my two picks for a January read.

By Gaslight or Dr. Neruda's Cure for Evil.

I am so sorry for a short notice. I promise - I will give you time to obtain books before we start this new reading adventure.

Ooh I pick By Gaslight. I bought that a few weeks ago because I loved the cover.

Honestly, I am also intrigued by the first book more .. but I still find both of them intriguing

OK, both of those books look really good, and I've not heard of either of them until now. Dang it for the growing TBR pile!

I've been meaning to pick up By Gaslight in the near future, so it would be cool if it ended up the winner.

Thanks Zulfiya and intriguing choices!! I will read either one with the group but Gaslight sounds more interesting to me.

I don't know anything about either book but I don't think I'd mind reading By Gaslight (I have also checked and it's available as a library ebook which is always a bonus!). The second one however doesn't seem my sort of thing looking at some of the review comments.

I'd like to read By Gaslight, because I can get a library copy of it!

Hmmmmm. It must be the week before Christmas.

Well, my library has 16 holds on By Gaslight, so that will be a no-go for me. Not that I have time to read another print book next month anyway! I see that there is an audio book narrated by John Lee, so I might go that route. I don't think I've listened to that narrator before, though.

I love John Lee, and automatically check out his audiobooks as I find them in the library.

I agree about John Lee. His narration is always well done.

By Gaslight is my choice and having an audio version by John Lee is awesome.

I'm happy to have you make the choice of offerings, Zulfiya -- moderator's privilege.

I'm not sure I'm up for reading either one, given a heavy reading schedule for early next year, but if either it would have to be By Gaslight, which my library has, since I wouldn't have any interest in buying Dr. Neruda's Cure for Evil, and it's hard to get current books on ILL.

I am interested in By Gaslight.

I've placed a hold on my library copy - I'm the only one in line so I should get it reasonably shortly.

I will close the thread on the 21st.

Gaslight sounds wonderful, I loved The Crimson Petal and the White

I wouldn't mind reading Dr. Neruda. Just to be different.
