After London: or, Wild England by Richard Jefferies

I found this very strange. The book starts with descriptions of plants & creatures evolving after an unnamed event destroys London & most of England. Moving on to people, various groups & categories are described. But the story, set in the future, describes a lifestyle which seemed to me more like that of hundreds of years ago, possibly around the time of Robin Hood. So, rather than science fiction or fantasy, it seemed more like a historical novel.

Trisha, I got the same impression. To me, it was more like a classic coming of age story, with a very open ending.
