I know I'm late to the party, but I think I'm going to start with book #1. Maybe I'll catch up. (Ha!)

Finished chapter 10One of the many things I love about this series is that the characters from different book do not automatically become friends when they meet.

Ok, just me nit picking but if Sophia is from Spain and using her spanish name, then it should be Sofia.

No you are not. I feel the same. In this one, I really like Cyn and Raphael so I don't mind reading about them. Half of this book was theirs .
Have you read Nalini Singh's Archangel series? This series is more like that. All the couples come second to Raphael and Elena.

I've only read the first 3, now that you mention it, doesn't Singh's Raphael have a trusted vampire named Duncan?

Spanish pronunciation is literal, everything is pronounced as it is spelled and the vowels are all short. The only exception is ch, that sounds the same as english.
Sophia feels like a secondary character rather than the titular heroine. :/ I actualy like the parts with Cyn and Colin trying to solve the mystery but Colin has spent more time with Cyn rather than Sophia. I wouldn't mind so much if the book's title weren't Sophia...ETA: I'm on ch. 32
ShoSho wrote: "[spoilers removed]"Yeah, no explanation given at all. Did you notice the dude's face on the cover? I can't decide if he's scared and trying to hide it or what. These covers are so bad...

The Pacific Northwest . . . home to lush forests and constant rain, to lumberjacks and computer geeks, especially those of the vampire kind.
Sophia, beautiful and deadly, has spent the last hundred years dancing her way through the balmy nights and hot-blooded men of South America. But when her Sire sends an urgent summons, Sophia rushes home to Vancouver only to find he has disappeared, leaving nothing behind but three dead vampires and a letter with Sophia’s name on it.
Colin Murphy, a former Navy SEAL, came to the Northwest seeking a quiet place to heal the scars earned in more than a decade at war. But when someone starts killing local vampires and torturing their mates, Colin takes on the mantle of a warrior once again as he sets out to find the killers and do whatever it takes to stop them, even if that means hunting with vampires.
Following her Sire’s trail of death to a small town in northern Washington, Sophia unexpectedly discovers the heat of a South American night in Colin’s arms. But all too soon Sophia and Colin find themselves in a race to uncover the killers before the next dead vampire is Sophia herself.
