Drake stepped out onto the plaza, glancing back to see if the girl had followed him. She had. He returned his gaze down the walk, noting the breathtaking sunset. It was beautiful.
((Oh! There's a dragon egg site! Where you raise dragons. :D
http://dragcave.net/))
She followed, the backpack slung over her shoulders. "Woah," she said, looking wide eyed over everything. "You can see my house from here," she joked, looking down. She could see literally everything, cities in the distance.

"It's quite a view," Drake agreed stepping up to the railing and peering down as well. "It makes you feel like somehow we have a greater purpose than we take this for," he said distractedly, "or maybe that's just me."
"Yeah," she said, leaning dangerously far over the edge. "How high up do you think we are?" She had no fear of hights, that, at least, was obvious. "Do the baby dragons like flying off this?"
"You should try it," Drake suggested. Looking over at her. "I'm not exactly sure of the proportions, I never asked."
"It's huge," she said, "I wonder if you could climb down it without falling off." She sounded tempted, like it would be thrilling to nearly snap her arms off climbing down.
(( I had a wild urge to go into party mode, totally out of character, but these urges take me. So I wrote it then deleted it xD Must adhere to plot!))"Yeah, please don't kill yourself-" Drake interjected, trying to hold back a grin. "I'd have to hurl myself over the edge to save you, and then we'd both likely end up painting those rocks down there."
((I want to see!))
"You'd hurl yourself?" she asked, raising her eyebrows, but pulling back. "And I'm not incredibly suicidal, or so I like to think. Besides, I was never a fan of modern art anyways.

((I deleted it....))He laughed at that, leaning against the railing. "To be truthful, I'm not much of a fan either. Especially when it requires my innards for painting material."
((Aw... gtg clean.))
She smiled slightly at that. "Do you have a dragon bond?" she asked. "How old is he?"
She smiled slightly at that. "Do you have a dragon bond?" she asked. "How old is he?"
"Why not? I mean, my dragon never spoke, but maybe... I don't know, I was thinking Razeth might, now that I've come here. Do they like talking?"
"We're just not much of talkers, it's not anything personal. He's like a million years old, which is an overstatement of course, and I'm in my twentys. Get's in the way a little."
"Oh," she said. "I thought the bonds were between closely tied dragons and humans. I guess not, right? Or is it, you two were paired so deal with it?"
((Sorry! I replied to this last night but I guess the internet ran out before it could post.... :_((((( ))"Well, though the bonds are strong, there is little it can do to unite emotions. You can't change people, the further they stray apart."
((Aw... I hate it when that happens!))
"Didn't you get to chose your bond?" she asked, feeling sympathetic. She couldn't imagine being tied to one of those fearful beasts, one that didn't want her and didn't care for her.

((YEAH. It was so good too!!))"No, not for me." Drake replied. "After the war the soldiers were paired mandatorily with various dragons from the opposing side."
((What was it? D:))
"Wait, the war? You've been bonded with this dragon for ten years and never asked his age? That's sad," she said, looking at him piteously. "Thor-Razeth and Scales, they were the only creatures willing to be the friends of an unendowed young hobo girl."

((MAN, for some reason this tab keeps turning up as read! STUPID PHONE.))"As I said, we don't talk much..." Drake trailed off, looking slightly abashed at her horror. Though, he recovered quickly of course. "You're not a hobo, just not typical."
"I never talked with my dragons," she sighed. "I think his voice was damaged." Adara cradled Razeth in her arms, and the little dragon woke from his long nap, climbing out and wrapping around her neck and shoulders. She gave a little giggle and pulled out a chunk of meat, feeding the little guy. He cooed and put his head on her shoulder.
"Maybe," she said, "He was a fire dragon, though, and great at catching chickens. The best friend a hobo-er, I mean, a not typical person could ever hope to have." She smiled. "Razeth, this is... Er, I'm sorry, I'm really bad with names."
Drake laughed, glancing back behind them. "Hey, I'd love to stay, but I really need to get going. You going to be okay out here?"
"Yeah, um, I guess," she said, running her hands through her hair. No one really liked hanging around with her long anyway. It was Drake! That was it. "Yeah, sorry for taking up your time," she murmured. It was probably because she hadn't taken a chance to bathe or because her clothes were fairly ragged.
"Don't be silly," Drake grinned. "No time taken up, in fact, how about I meet you in the pavilion later tonight? You can get cleaned up, and I can show you some of my favorite foods?"
"Really?" she asked, perking up considerably. "Where do I live? I thought I saw the pavilion, it's right there, right?" she asked, pointing down at the pavilion. "Where do I bathe and... can Razeth stay with me?"
"Girl dorms," Damon replied easily. "About the bathing part, I wouldn't know..." he shrugged, "I'm not a girl."
"Thank you so much for your help," she said. She never had anyone's undivided attention. If people at this place were this kind, she'd love everything here. "So, when should I show up at the pavilion?"
"Are there required classes?" she wondered. "I know, I'm- I'm probably making you late for said classes. I can go clean up and then we'll talk?"
"Sure," Drake nodded. "and just the mandatory training, and history stuff. Nothing to complicated." He assured her.
"Yeah! I mean, a little," she said, really not okay with long books. She could read three letter words, that's when she'd been left on the streets. She gulped to herself.
"I'll help you, don't worry." Drake laughed at her expression. "After you get assigned some real homework, I can help you out with it."
"Really?" she asked. "I'm good with numbers, if not their names... And I can do loads of things." She smiled, liking Drake a lot. Could she call this friendship?
"I'm better with the numbers as well," Drake admitted taking it in stride. He glanced over at the setting sun, "I really got to go now. It was nice meeting you." He said, moving back towards the grand doors with a wave.
She smiled, waiting a little bit for him to get ahead, then practically ran for the girl's dorms, hoping there was something nice to wear, and baths, and maybe a haircut. She had quite a few split ends.
((How old is she by the time she makes it to the school? I thought she was pretty old, didn't she have greying hairs?))
