I really liked the first half of the story with Harry trying to figure out what exactly happened to Terry McCaleb the weekend he died. I was very involved in the story until Harry went to Las Vegas. His interaction with his daughter and Eleanor just didn't interest me at all.
I enjoyed the first part more now that you mention it. However, I loved his musings about his daughter, how it's changed his perspective and given him new meaning about his life. It's like he sees the world a little differently. Eleanor...not so much.
I'm not a fan of Rachel Walling. She doesn't have any loyalties, which is so different from Harry. I can't figure out what she considers important or where her moral center is located. I'm always disappointed in her.
The final scenes were pretty exciting. Loved how it ended.

I actually preferred the 2nd half after Harry joins up with Rachel. I do like her character and think that she is more of a fit for Harry. She is strong and not damaged in the way that the other women in his life have been and has no expectations.
My dislike of her is because she can't be trusted. She played both McEvoy and Harry the same way, only giving them information that she thought would help her situation. At least she seems like a good FBI agent.
