The Book Jar
Love this idea!!I'm in.
Would it be to much trouble if you sent a reminder to those that signed up to remind us of the challenge. I can't remember what I did yesterday much less what I signed up to do a week away.
thanks

Hmmm maybe if you actually make up a Jar and place it somewhere you will see it all that time, that should keep you remembering hun :D However, if I see that you haven't posted up your on folder under this with your books selections and are not marking those books off I will send you a message to remind you.

Coincidentally, I literally saw this idea today on a website and thought to make one for a friend as a birthday gift :)

Even a container would do or a shoe box.

This is so cool! Just a question, can we put any book title into the jar or can it only be YA / NA books?

I think she said any book you have always wanted to read so I would say you could read any book Gabby.

Thank you guys!!
Also I have two more (probably stupid) questions...- Can we keep adding more titles into the jar (like continuously throughout the year)?
&
- What if we put the title of a book into the jar, then just decide to read the book, even if we hadn't pulled it out of the jar to read; does it still count?
Thanks so much! I'm so excited for this I've picked out a jar and everything!!

JUANA's BOOK JAR"
Juana, can you please add a folder for your own Book Jar as you will require you're own space for all your books. Adding a folder requires you to click on "Discussions" then click on "The Book Jar" it will take you to a section where you can "add new folder" name your folder "Juana's Book Jar" and add your books there by posting a new thread. You can frequent the folder as many times you want and won't need to sort through all of these comments here in this thread.

Hmm... I thought I'd already added my name. But, I am interested. Also, can you cross these books off for any of the other challenges?

Did you create your own folder? If so, because everyone else is, it's most likely towards the bottom of the folder line. So if you click on the discussions, then click on "The Book Jar" sections it will take you to the list of folders and yours should be there towards the end.
As far as crossing books you read off other challenges, you most certainly can :D

We encourage you read the book you pick but alas, it's your challenge and you can just place the book back in and pick another.

At your own pace, Riss. Just place in 20 or so books in the jar and go slow.

Everyone please note: Don't fear if you can't see your folder on the homepage. Only 5 threads under each title can be shown on the homepage, but if you click on "The Book Jar Challenge 2017" highlighted, it will take you to the folder and reveal the list of other threads beneath it. There, you will see your folder that you can go back to. Whenever you post in a thread, it will automatically bring it up as it is the latest updated discussion.

What better way to tackle that TBR List, Book Bucket List or books you've always wanted to read but never got around to by just tossing all those titles into a jar and picking a book out at random. It's the perfect way to get out of that book slump, especially when you just don't know what to read next.
So, here's what you do:
*Add your name here in this post if you are interested in the challenge.
*Get a Jar - whether you re-use a coffee jar, container or buy a mason jar specifically, this will hold all those scraps of paper with your books written on them.
*Review TBR list - pick at least 20-100 you've always wanted to read, write each title and author down on a piece of paper then place in the jar.
*Pick at random - or have someone pick out of the jar for you.
*Try not to pick out another book - Please try and read your first pick, if you aren't in the mood, then pick another.
*Create your own thread in this folder and label it Your Name's Book Jar 2017 e.g. Sylvia's Book Jar. In that folder, create a list of the books you placed in the jar and once you have read each book you've picked out, cross out the title and author, then add the date that you read it.
For example:
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maasread 23rd December 2016Note: To cross out title and author all you do is type out, (<)s(>)title and author(<)/s(>) - minus the brackets of course.
Hope you all enjoy and I can't wait to see those everyone's own personal Book Jar. If you like you can upload a photo of it in your folder.
Challenge begins 1st January and ends 31 December 2017.
Happy Reading!
