Since I've already read Dark Matter, I'm in for this one.

message 4: by Kelly B (new)

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments I think I'll try to get this one...it sounds good. Plus, there's just something about reading winter horror when there's snow outside!

Marie | 4054 comments I am going to be in on this one too. I went ahead and bought it off of amazon. It sounds really good! It seems I might have found a new horror author as he has other books I want to read. I will be ready.

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 397 comments Also, just want to say that I am enjoying the fact that this looks to be Canadian Historical Fiction as well!

ok, ok... I really am going to read this. I just got caught up in The City of Mirrors and am having a hard time reading anything else.

Has anyone started reading yet?

Marie | 4054 comments @Wendy - I have started reading it and it is really good so far! I am about 50 pages in and it is a grabber! lol

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments I read this one last year, so am following along to get into some conversations. :)

Marie | 4054 comments I am be-bopping along on this one. It is really interesting. I am more than 1/2 way through it. :)

I'm in, too. I'm about a quarter of the way through this and I'm loving it.

The Devil's Woods, The Witching House, and Darkness Rising were all great reads, imho!

Yes, those were first published by Samhain, which is now closed. I can't wait for the collection, myself!

60% in and thoroughly enjoying this one. For this being Moreland's debut, it just goes to show you how good of a writer he is. I've read many an author that's best work doesn't hold a candle to this. I've also read his novellas Darkness Rising, The Vagrants, and The Witching House. All of which were excellent. I haven't read his Shadows in the Mist, but I hear that one is one of his best. Has anyone else read it?

Ironically, that was my least favorite by him (although it was still a good read!). I think that my problem was that it was primary about the horrors of war, and I went in expecting a "supernatural" novel the entire way through... The Devil's Woods was probably the first I'd read from him--superb!

Finished this one tonight and absolutely loved it. It's even more impressive when you consider that this was Moreland's debut. I loved the blending of The Exorcist influences with Native American manitou folklore.

I have The Devil's Woods, but haven't read it yet. I've loved everything I've read of his. Not a clunker in the bunch.

Veronica Shawcroft | 22 comments I'm a little late to the party but as I've already read The Exorcist (the February selection) some years ago (and don't want to read it again), I think I'll read this one instead.

I hope you love it as much as I did, Veronica!
