January Group Read (2017)- Nominations [CLOSED]
I second The White Tiger and The Remains of the Day. Hope you all enjoy your holidays. Curl up with a good book!
Mybookinggreatblog wrote: "I nominate White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. Hope you have a great Christmas!"YES! I second that! Good Choice.
Raluca wrote: "The God of Small Things, definitely!!!!"That book has previously be nominated and is not eligible this month. If you weren't aware, there's a list of books at the top of the discussion that have previously been chosen.
I second The Sea, The Sea by Iris Murdoch and The Sea by John Banville (wow that's a lot of seas that I want to read)
Aga wrote: "I second The Sea The Sea and The Remains of The Day and Possession"Time is running out. You only get to "second" two books. You have chosen to give your two "seconds" to three books.

If you've not had the chance to join the conversation for December's pick, Hotel Du Lac, you can do so here:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
It's been an enlightening discussion around a book that doesn't seem to be loved by many.
As always, you are able to nominate one book and up-vote two others. Please DO NOT nominate a book that you've seen someone already nominate in this thread. Instead, you can give it 1 of your 2 upvotes so I know that you are also interested in reading it. Of course you can only nominate past Man Booker winners (not books that were short or long-listed).
In the past we have read the following, so they are not eligible for January:
-The God of Small Things
-The Blind Assassin
-The Line of Beauty
-The Luminaries
-The Narrow Road to the Deep North
-A Brief History of Seven Killings (last year's winner)
-The Sellout (this year's winner)
-The Sense of an Ending
-Hotel du Lac
Once again, I'll start the nominations with Anne Enright's The Gathering which won in 2007.
Nominations will close on December 30th @ midnight PST. Winner will be announced on the 31st.
